ohh, that new snippet is so good. I’m fully invested and at the same time my heart is breaking for lando. (best combination) So if you ever write more whether it’ll be context or more story i’ll be there to gobble it up. <33
I will happily write more but for now I give more context to the au!
Lando, as stated, meets Charles at 20 when he is in his first year of university and joins the pack fully a year later. He loves his pack and loves Kimi, Jenson and Seb's pack who are essentially an extension of Lewis and Fernando's pack with how much time they all spend together.
Lando didn't have the best start in life so he's happy to meet Charles and the others. Lando grew up in an abusive pack his family were a part of that looked down on omegas. It was expected that Lando would learn how to care for a home, and then ar 18 he wouldn't go to university, he'd be mated on his birthday and that was that. He was emotionally and physically abused, and the night before he turned 18, he took money he'd saved from odd jobs and birthdays and some from his parents and he ran. He stopped at a police station in his town, told them he was 18 and leaving an abusive pack in case his family filed a missing person's report, and he ran.
He got a job, got a shitty little shoebox apartment, and he worked himself to the bone for two years to put himself into university because he wanted to have a carer and a life and eventually, a pack.
So when he meets Lewis and Kimi’s packs through Charles, he's a little wary but it's everything he ever wanted. They're loving and respectful. They never push his boundaries, accept him not talking about his family or much about his life before he came to this city at 18, and he meets Daniel who he has a long crush on before theybstart secretly courting.
The day he leaves, Lando had seen his parents when he went to work on a group project with his classmate Oscar in a cafe, and he panics. He doesn't think they saw him, but it immediately triggers him and when he gets home, he wants comfort. He tries to nest with the others or cuddle with them, and they all get annoyed and brush him off because of different reasons. Mainly they're all working from home and stressed and having bad days and unfortunately, Landos need for comfort just rubs them wrong and everyone keeps snapping at him until he drops the plate and Lewis loses it.
In that moment, Lewis reminds Lando so much of his old pack that he just shuts down and when Lewis sends him to his room because "None of us want to see you right now Lando", Lando just internalises everything they said and it just confirms what his parents used to tell him: he is a burden, a waste, useless, an idiot
So he leaves because he wants what's best for his pack, and if that's him gone, then so be it.....except he didn't know that his parents saw him in the cafe.....
When Charles wakes up, and makes Landos favourite breakfast out of guilt and wanting to apologise to Lando....its him who finds Landos empty room with missing stuff and a note saying he's gone and he screams because this isn't what they wanted

You & Me - Rhys Montrose x Reader - Part 17
Tumblr media
Part 16 | Part 18
Summary: What happens when reader assassin is tasked with killing the possible future mayor of London; Rhys Montrose. Politician by day, Eat the Rich Killer by night. But he isn’t the only person wearing different masks.
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Violence, murder, immoral sociopathic behaviour, mentions of alcoholism, drug abuse and neglect, smut
Word count: 5k
A/N: at the end.
Song: Lavender Haze – Taylor Swift
“Oi! Watch where you’re going!”
A group of obnoxious tweens bustled their way into the busy underground station, harshly bumping into you in the process.
“For fuck’s sake,” you bristled, checking whether they hadn’t sneakily pickpocketed you. You could never be too sure in this city.
You continued towards the exit of Russell Square station, on your way towards the park bearing the same name. At the park you would meet up with an associate of yours. A very secretive one that is. Understandably so, as his business wasn’t exactly part of the normal world of economic trade. He would be able to provide you with an illegal but quite essential product, something you needed for tonight’s big event — the murder of one Daniel Fernsby.
Since you’d met up with Ms. Edwards nearly a week ago, you hadn’t been sitting still, diving back into the job you were so tremendously good at. You’d quickly decided that tonight’s greatly anticipated social event would be the perfect opportunity to get close to Fernsby without raising much suspicion. Besides, Ms. Edwards wanted Fernsby to be found dead in public, so you would honour her request.
The plan was straightforward. Later this evening, Fernsby would attend a private and highly exclusive dinner and auction, hosted by Sotheby’s. Their regular auctions were already intended for only the highest rankers of the social elite, but tonight that would be even more true.
For a few days you contemplated the best way to access the event, carefully weighing your options. You’d ultimately decided to pretend to be one of the prestigious guests, ready to spend a disturbing amount of money on some work of art. There was only the issue of gaining an invite and unfortunately for you, those weren’t exactly easy to come by, or forge. Sotheby’s top management handpicked the riches and sent out the invites themselves. Not to mention, their security was top-notch. Simply put, if you weren’t on the list, they’d never let you in.
Luckily for you, you had another contact who would be able to help you tackle this hurdle — Colin Turner, a shy and geeky student from the same uni your sister attended.
As a talented young hacker, the lad had the means and skills to place you on the invites’ list, hacking Sotheby’s state of the art computer system. Colin had informed you that it might take a while to get it done and you were still waiting on the confirmation that he succeeded. You sincerely hoped he would come through in time. But you weren’t too worried, he always did.
The planning of your next hit and all of the preparations that came with it meant you hadn’t seen much of Rhys lately. None in fact. Except for the late-night phone calls and the good morning texts. You kept each other updated on each other’s lives and happenings as much as you could, highly aware of the fact that you weren’t able to discuss the most sensitive details over the phone.
It wasn’t entirely your fault that you hadn’t seen each other after that one, very blissful night. Rhys had been quite busy himself, with the announcement, his campaign now in full motion, and of course the charity run he’d been organising and planning for weeks in advance. It had been a great success. A lot of money was raised, which would be donated to cancer research. You’d both been thrilled, but even more so for what it would mean for his campaign. Rhys was already popular and this win right at the start garnered him even more support. It was all a political game and Rhys was damn good at playing it.
“Excuse me, Miss?”
You came to a stop, your gaze falling upon a young couple with two small children. The man’s accent indicating they were tourists. That and the puzzled expression as, presumably, his wife tried to make sense of a map of London.
“Do you know where the British Museum is?”
“Yes, of course,” you smiled kindly.
You concisely explained the directions, pointing on the map and then in the direction of the museum and which road to take. They thanked you at least three times and were quickly on their way to the museum where their own national art was likely wrongfully on display, two babbling kids in tow. You shook your head. Good god, you weren’t a museum robber but that one certainly inspired you to want to play Robin Hood.
Five minutes later, without any more strangers interrupting your journey, you entered Russell Square Park. You were unable to keep the smile off your face as you looked at the newsstand, a very familiar face gracing today’s front page of The Times.
Rhys’ face was absolutely everywhere. And you were very appreciative of the fact that the press hadn’t yet figured out your identity. Which is also why you hadn’t gone to Lewisham for Rhys’ announcement, not wanting to draw too much attention to yourself. Besides, it was his moment.
Zoe had been right about the media frenzy, though. One day, sooner or later, you knew you would have to deal with it.
You couldn’t ignore the slight nervousness you felt for how it would affect your own freedom, especially in terms of how you lived your life. And you were also slightly concerned for the safety of your sisters. The whole Lockwood situation had made you even more mindful of what, or whom, you could potentially lose if you ever made a mistake like that again. There was currently only one other person who knew you through your work, and that was Ms. Edwards. You trusted her, to a degree. Even so, you had to be extra careful meeting new clients from now on, never letting your guard down.
But for the moment, you enjoyed your anonymity, brushing off the festering nerves inside of you. You’d even smiled to yourself as you had overheard two elderly women discussing the latest gossip on the tube a couple of days ago, holding a copy of The Mirror, wondering out loud who the dashing woman was that Rhys Montrose was keeping a secret, and why he would. Was it because she would cause a scandal for him?
It was quite amusing, you had to admit. And some part of you wanted to agree with them, you’d likely cause a scandal if the public found out their potential new mayor was seeing an assassin. Then again, voting a serial killer into office… Well, it was all up to them in the end.
You walked towards the park’s centre, taking note of every single person in the park at this hour. It was nearing lunch time, which meant it was quite busy, just as the station had been. That was good. It would allow you to blend in as much as possible. But it also urged you to be extra cautious, making sure there were no people around who were secretly watching you. Specifically, the police, either in uniform or plain-clothed.
When you neared the centre, your eyes slid over the frame of a handsomely dressed man sitting on one of the many benches. The man was about forty years old and you’d never seen him not wearing one of his impeccable and rather expensive suits. Overall, you would describe him as attractive, for sure.
He sat legs crossed, engrossed in reading today’s newspaper. The Times. It was even easier to recognise as Rhys was on the front page.
The meeting and the approach always followed the same exact instructions. When your contact would be reading The Times, the financial page to be correct, only then would you be cleared to make the approach. But first and foremost, it was crucial to not appear to be conversing with one another.
Which is why you slowed your pace a mere ten metres away from the man, taking your phone from your purse and pretending to answer it. You saw the man discreetly glance up at you and check his surroundings before returning his attention to the newspaper. He turned towards the next page, laying it on his knee, allowing you to see that it was opened on the financial section. That was your cue.
Casually walking towards the same bench, you sat down beside the man. He didn’t spare you a single look as he took out his own phone from his inner coat pocket, bringing it up to his ear.
“Mr. F,” you greeted under your breath. “Have you been able to acquire what I requested?”
“Oh, dear,” Mr. F scoffed jokingly. “Have you met me?”
“Not the real you, I imagine.”
Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed his lips twitch into a charming, little smile. He didn’t bother to correct you, nor would you have expected him to. You were both part of a secretive world, one where you didn’t stick around to make friends.
Mr. F kept his eyes trained on his surroundings, making sure the coast was still clear before sliding his free hand into his inner coat pocket once more, retrieving a small bottle. A perfume bottle to be exact. He carefully placed it on the bench between the two of you.
“I took you for a Chanel lady. I hope it’s to your liking.”
“I’m sure it is,” you said, swiftly taking out a small, folded paper bag filled with his payment.
The travel sized perfume bottle was small enough to conveniently carry with you in your purse, and thus easy to smuggle into the venue tonight unnoticed. Of course, it wasn’t actually filled with Chanel no. 5. Although, no one would be able to tell just by looking at the bottle — it seemed perfectly common, like any you’d pick up at the store. But in reality, it contained a highly toxic poison, capable of killing a grown man within minutes.
“My apologies for the increased prices.”
“Inflation is hitting all markets,” you joked.
“Indeed, it has,” he smirked.
You put away the poison filled bottle in your purse whilst Mr. F tucked his money into his coat pocket.
“Pleasure doing business with you, as always.”
“The pleasure is all mine, dear.”
With that, you stood up, walking back into the direction of the station. Not a single person in the park had taken notice of the quite illegal transaction taking place right in front of them. After all, the entire exchange had only lasted a minute or two, and not once did you make direct eye contact with each other. It was safest that way, for both of you.
As you walked down the road, your phone buzzed and you took it from where you were still holding it to your ear. Better to be safe than sorry.
>>> I’m at the restaurant. How long will you be?
Claire.
You were meeting her for lunch after not having seen her in person since she’d dropped you and your sisters off at Rhys’. It’d been a crazy couple of weeks and a lot had happened.
Finally, you’d been able to find the time to meet up with Claire. Even though you were in the midst of your killing preparations, you were determined to find a moment to see each other, planning to meet up for lunch.
<<< I’ll be there in ten.
You quickly sent your reply, smoothly transitioning from your hidden dark side to the loving friend as you once again made your way through the busy underground station.
––
“Well, if it isn’t the most sought-after woman in the country,” Claire beamed, getting up as you neared the table she had already claimed.
“Oh, fuck off,” you laughed, throwing your arms around her. You’d missed her.
“It’s true, though, isn’t it?”
You both sat down, Claire’s grin as much contagious as it was smug. “Fuck off,” you quietly repeated. It only earned you a laugh in return.
This tiny restaurant in the heart of London was your regular haunt, so to speak. You’d been coming here for ages, sometimes wondering if you were single-handedly responsible for keeping the restaurant in business. Although, they were doing fine on their own, it was always crowded, just like today.
The dozen or so tables were almost all occupied, placed around the central bar. The warm, earth tones gave off an inviting atmosphere. A bit hippie-esque almost, in the best way possible. There were at least thirty different types of plants scattered around the place, some hanging from the ceiling, making it feel like a welcoming home to all. It was a place where you’d meet up for coffee, grab a quick bite, sit down next to the window to people-watch for hours on end, or perhaps even get some work done. It was the one public spot you truly missed during the pandemic.
A waiter appeared beside you, handing you the menu and informing you on today’s special, some salmon or whatever. You forgot it as soon as you’d heard it, always ordering the same thing anyway, which you did immediately, Claire doing the same. The waiter nodded politely at your quick order, walking off with a smile.
“He’s new,” Claire pointed out, tracking the waiter as he walked back behind the counter.
Now it was your turn to grin. “You know what else is new? Your interest in this restaurant’s staff.”
Claire whipped her head around a little too quickly to be able to play it off cool.
“What?” She shrugged. “I’ll admit he’s cute. Maybe a tad too young. Looks like he’s barely out of uni.”
“That’s never stopped you before,” you murmured, making Claire narrow her eyes at you.
“No,” she shook her head, backtracking. “We’re not here to talk about my love life. We’re here to talk about yours.”
You raised a single eyebrow in amusement. “Are we, now?”
“Definitely,” Claire said, raising her hand to silently point towards the tele that hung behind the bar.
Your eyes followed the movement of her hand until your gaze landed upon the screen. Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
You watched as Rhys shook hands with two interviewers before taking a seat in what appeared to be a packed studio. Right, he was supposed to go on and do a live interview this afternoon, which included answering questions from the audience.
“Jeez, he’s bloody everywhere,” you said, but there was no denying the proud undertone in your voice.
“Thank god for that. Imagine if you were the only person allowed to see that attractive face. We’d all be miserable.”
You stifled a laugh when the same waiter returned with your drinks. Claire sat up a little straighter, tucking a stray hair behind her ear.
“Could you turn up the volume on the tele a bit?” Claire asked the lad, shooting him a flirtatious smile. Internally, you rolled your eyes.
“Of course, ma’am,” he answered professionally, turning around to oblige her request.
“Ma’am,” Claire groaned. “What am I? Fifty?”
“Fifty’s the new thirty, everybody knows that.”
“You’re a fine one to talk. I don’t know how you do it, but your skin doesn’t look a day over twenty.”
You laughed. “I’m the modern-day Dorian Gray.”
“Please, have a bit more of a happy ending, at the very least,” Claire joked.
“I’ll try my best.”
The clapping noises of an audience made you both turn towards the tele as the waiter had upped the volume per Claire’s request.
The camera cut from the audience to show Rhys sitting there on a large couch, all by himself, the two interviewers sitting on another couch placed adjacent to his. He looked entirely comfortable, even though he was currently on live television. Sure, he’d done it plenty of times before, especially in the last week. But he seemed so at ease, almost like he owned the place, yet not in an arrogant way at all. Once again, you found yourself impressed.
Rhys was in the middle of commenting on the Eat The Rich killings for the nth time. How it had made him feel when it was discovered one of their own was the serial killer, Roald Walker-Burton, as well as how he thought the public had perceived the entire ordeal and used it to speak out about the problems they faced — some type of social commentary, highlighting larger issues at stake in not only London but the entire country. Basically, the same answer he had provided to a hundred other reporters and interviewers in the past weeks, cleverly rearranging his words as though he was actually saying something new.
“I still can’t believe there was an actual serial killer running around the city,” Claire shivered.
You peeled your eyes away from the tele to shoot her a reassuring smile. “At least they caught him.”
Claire rolled her eyes. “Fairly easy job when the creep’s blown his own brains out.”
You bit your tongue, slowly nodding in agreement. You couldn’t help but think back to how Rhys had simply wanted to tie up the loose ends of the Eat The Rich killings by using Roald, twisting and falsifying a story to further establish the perfect basis for his campaign.
“As you may well know, I grew up in a council estate in Lewisham,” Rhys’ deep, eloquent voice made you glance back at the screen, Claire following suit. It was as if you couldn’t help but tune in and listen to what the man had to say, like a mermaid’s siren at sea.
“And I saw over and over again how not everybody’s getting the same chances. I’d been given that rare opportunity that has led me to be sitting here today,” Rhys said, gesturing towards the audience off-screen.
“So, if I become mayor, I wanna do more for the working class of London. To help out both the old and the young, and everyone in between.”
The audience started applauding him and Rhys momentarily paused before adding, “All of the underprivileged people that are every much as deserving of a chance and opportunity in life as everybody else.”
“If he keeps this up, he’s sure as hell going to win,” Claire observed, interrupting your silent transfixion with the man who was indeed likely to be swaying hundreds, perhaps thousands of voters to his side right this second.
He was currently skyrocketing in the polls, leaving Atkinson behind him for now. Rhys’ ability to speak to both the aristocrats and those on the lower stairs of London’s hierarchal society, gave him an edge over his opponents. Or opponent. Singular. Marcus Atkinson really was the only other dangerous man in this political game for power.
“I think you’re right,” you agreed.
“So,” Claire cleared her throat, casting her full attention to you. “Is it that same persuasiveness that resulted in you finally opening up to someone — to him?”
Your eyes met and her dark ones were sparkling, the happiness she felt for you easily detectable within them. You’d kept her up to date on how Rhys had managed to secure your sisters a flat and also how you had taken this next step in your relationship with him. Whatever this relationship actually was. It was complicated, but it felt oh so right.
You chuckled. “Possibly, yeah.”
Claire smiled and that’s when the waiter returned with your food, placing it in front of you and asking if you needed anything else. You said no, thanking him, and he walked off, Claire not being able to stop herself from tracking his retreating figure once more.
“I don’t know, Claire. There’s just something about him that’s impossible to resist,” you admitted, picking up the cutlery.
“I get that. His charm or, I don’t know what it is exactly, it’s definitely working in his favour right now. Not just with you, but also with these elections.”
“That’s just it, though,” you countered. “It’s not simply his charm or his presence you see on tele — it’s more than that. I’ve felt this draw to him from the moment we met, and he’s told me he feels the same thing.”
“Soulmates,” Claire remarked, taking a bite of her salad.
“What did you say?”
“You heard me. Soulmates.”
You scoffed. “There’s no such thing. This isn’t a fairy tale world we live in.”
Claire shrugged, clearly choosing not to accept that. “How do you know?”
“Have you looked around lately? This world is as fucked up as it can be.”
“I’m not talking about the state of the world, Y/N. I’m talking about you and Rhys, regardless of circumstance and what’s going on around you.”
You slowly chewed your food, a troubled look passing over your features. You both had your own set of beliefs and Claire had always been the one who believed in unconditional love a lot more than you did.
How could you, really? The only love you’d ever felt growing up was with Zoe and Sadie. There had never been any real love between your parents. So, not having witnessed that or any affection from them for you and your sisters meant that no one ever truly taught you how to love another person. Especially not a potential partner. Someone who you’d choose to spend the rest of your life with.
“Circumstance,” you echoed, sighing, zeroing in on that single word.
You briefly glanced at the screen once more. Rhys was answering questions from the audience now. When you looked back to your lunch date, you noticed Claire carefully analysing your body language, setting down her knife and fork.
“Okay, we’ve been here before,” Claire hinted at your heart to heart in the hospital from a few weeks ago. “Apparently, I was wrong in my earlier assessment. You’re clearly still holding back. Why? What is it?”
You sighed again. “Circumstance and the world around me are starting to play a larger role with each passing day.”
Claire was quiet for a moment, her keen eyes on you. Her silence prompted you to keep going.
“I just— I don’t know if I’m ready for the world to know who I am, to be scrutinised even further in the spotlight,” you confessed.
Zoe and Sadie had teased you about the articles, Zoe even warning you for the inevitable moment your identity would become public knowledge. You’d dismissed it then, mostly because you’d thought the press’ obsession with you would stop at some point. Now that your relationship with Rhys was developing, there was no turning back to the safety of the shadows where no one was the wiser. It would be sooner rather than later that someone would recognise you from all of the media coverage, or would catch you with Rhys somewhere.
If you were finally being honest with yourself about the matter, it was also why you’d been somewhat fine with not seeing Rhys the past week. You still missed him. You still wanted him more than anything. Maybe even more than before you’d spent the night with him. But you also felt something stopping you from going to his house at night, nervous that someone would see you or take pictures of you. The British press could be relentless. And there was obviously even more attention to Rhys’ every move now than before.
You were just starting to pick up the pieces of your own life, getting back to work and what you did best — it almost felt impossible to mix the two.
Claire hummed in understanding. “You’ve never been the type of person to attract attention to themselves. So, you withdraw.”
“Yeah,” you chewed your lip, eyes downcast.
But really, what were you supposed to do? How could you prepare yourself to deal with the attention and publicity? It seemed Claire was able to read those doubts straight off of your face.
“You know, Y/N, it all boils down to a single question.”
You looked up, searching her face. “Which is?”
She gently smiled. “Is he worth it or not?”
You slightly shook your head. “It’s never that simple.”
“Is it not?”
You stared at her.
“Because I think it is,” Claire continued. “And my understanding is that you both care a lot about each other. Your face lights up when you look at him, or talk about him. Why would you jeopardise this beautiful thing between you just because of some pesky media attention? Why throw it away?”
“It’s not that I want to. I don’t think I’m actually considering that. I guess I’m just a little—” you faltered.
“Apprehensive?”
You bit your lip before silently nodding.
“Like you said, I’ve never been one to actively cast myself in the spotlight. I can accept that for Rhys it is different, but I don’t know how to navigate that for myself and — well, us.”
“As long as there is an us, and you are both willing to make it work, I’m sure you will be fine.”
Claire spoke with such conviction that you couldn’t help but find some solace within her words. And gladly so.
“I want to try, honestly I do,” you said, solemn, finding comfort in her words.
“That’s good,” Claire smiled.
“However, I won’t deny that I would love to burn all those fucking gossip websites and their editors alive,” you swore.
It was the truth, really. But you cracked a little smile at the end, letting it reach your eyes. Claire laughed, buying into your ‘joking threat.
“Speaking of those articles, I’m kinda surprised your mother hasn’t yet called one of the gossip websites to make some money.”
“Don’t speak it out into the universe like that,” you groaned. “Next thing you know, she’s become besties with The Sun’s editor.”
Claire laughed. “Nah, she’s way too far gone.”
“Don’t underestimate her, Claire.”
“Why, have you finally heard something from her?”
“Nope,” you replied. “And I’m honestly starting to question myself whether I should find that to be reassuring or not.”
“No matter how you feel about her, it would still be nice to have some sort of closure. You know, if she actually,” Claire gestured awkwardly.
“Died?” You supplied.
“Yeah…”
“I suppose so. Although, and I know it might be hard to believe, but I think I’d rather she’s still alive. Somehow, somewhere.”
Claire shot you a sympathetic smile.
“It’s not hard to believe at all, actually. You’re a caring person. Your sense of empathy transcends hers by miles.”
You mirrored her smile, but inwardly you winced. Claire couldn’t be farther from the truth when it came to this side of your emotions. She could often times accurately read you, like she did when it came to Rhys, but as to your hidden darker side — she was usually wrong. And you couldn’t blame her for that. Claire wasn’t wired the way that you were; able to experience some sense of compassion and normal human behaviour, whereas the next minute you would openly entertain the wicked tendencies you felt brewing away inside of you.
It was okay that Claire wouldn’t be able to understand that the only reason you wanted to find your mother alive was because you wanted to make her suffer at your hands, right before you would end her life.
It was okay. Because there was someone else that understood. Someone who would be by your side to help and support you every step of the way.
That conviction and overall trust you felt for Rhys was enough for you to convince you to try and make this partnership, or relationship you should say, between you work. Claire was right on that front. Rhys was worth it. You didn’t want to imagine your life without him anymore.
You could make this work. Together. Because that’s what you had done thus far. Sure, it hadn’t all been rainbows and sunshine, but you’d soldiered on, and in the end, it had worked out. So, when the public would find out about you, you would deal with it. Together.
But before you had to figure out how to balance your unorthodox career and life with being publicly connected to London’s potential next mayor, you still had tonight’s hit. Possibly the last one in which you could relish in your anonymity and make clever use of it.
You were about to answer Claire — to somewhat nicely and politely agree with her completely inaccurate assessment about your person, when your phone buzzed loudly. Excusing yourself, you picked it up to check the new incoming text message.
Reading it, you tried to suppress a sardonic smile threatening to make its way onto your face. Just as your mind had wandered towards tonight’s activities…
>>> it’s done. you’re on the guest list.
And thank you very much, Colin.
You placed your phone back down on the table, gazing up into Claire’s curious eyes. She would ask if it was Rhys as she’d already noted his interview had ended. And you would simply shrug your shoulders, playing it coy. And that would be it. No further questions to which you would never be able to provide her an honest answer.
You were grateful for Claire, though. To have someone who you could talk to about complicated relationships. And you had needed it, wholeheartedly welcoming her advice on the matter of you and Rhys. It had helped you realise that yes, you would try to give it your all. To give him your all. No matter the circumstances of his public life in the spotlight.
But first, you had a few more hours to enjoy your time with Claire and you weren’t going to waste it on heavy subjects alone. To also use this precious time to joke and have some much lighter conversations. You needed to relax a little and have fun, to not think too much about the intricacies of your life.
Fortunately, you were able to enjoy this little time off significantly more now, knowing everything was set for tonight. And by then, you would be ready and focused to get the job done.
––––
A/N: Claire, our bestie, always here to give the best relationship advice. Hopefully reader is actually ready to fully commit… We shall find out soon :)
Also, apologies for the lack of Rhys x Reader interactions in this chapter. He’ll be back to annoy her with his shenanigans in the next part, not to worry!

Octavian Lore part 2 ! (childhood - 3rd year)
again, tw for crucio abuse !
Since befriending Somerild (@sunglow-fae), Ephias thought it would be best for Octavian to spend more time with the Lovells. Brother Sister bond commences...
They are shipped off to Hogwarts together, sorted into Hufflepuff together, and really, all of first year Tavi hung to Somer like a leach. He was, of course, socializing with others!
He tried out for Quidditch first year and, shockingly, was put on the team as a beater. What better way to release pent-up rage, hm? This is how he meets Kyle (@cynosure404 ), a Gryffindor :] He wasn't exactly fond of him persay, but Kyle was funny and seemed to have the same friends he did.
Octavian joined the dueling club as another way to get out his frustration. He hadn't really put much thought into it when he used Crucio for the first time. If anything, the kickback of it made him feel gentle shocks, soothing the pain in his arms and shoulders from Quidditch practices.
He casted Crucio more frequently in his duels, something to make the other person(s) fear the way he held himself. Something that would scare them into surrender. He didn't mean to hit anyone with it.
Other than that, the first year wasn't all too bad for him. And of course, he returned to the Lovell's again for the first month of their summer break, and then back to his own home in Wales.
The second year came, and it was far more exciting than he'd expected it to be. Daniel finally introduced the group to his mystery friend, and shockingly, Tavi remembered him from their shared transfiguration course. Aslan (@ix-astra ), he said his name was.
Another two he casted Crucio on. He still didn't understand why they reacted the way they did. It wasn't that bad. He knew it wasn't. The burning metal he tasted on his tongue was they only bad part about it that he could remember.
They formed their own little group, a total of 6, 14 if they included the others (the Pit), but it was The Six. He mever had this sort of thing before. Nobody ever really approached him.
Rumors finally started settling in. Rumors that You Know Who was back in the form of a 12 year old boy. Octav knew who his grandparents were. He was reminded of them every time he had to step into Comet Manor. But he never expected it to follow him here. Follow him to the place where he didn't have to be the Dark Lord's blood.
Of course, when the dada teacher brought in a snake for class one day, Tavi could talk to it. He wasn't very good at Parseltongue, but he could understand everything the snake said. The teacher never brought in another snake.
Summer between the second and third. Delphi got angry too often now, ranging from small bits of malice to large fits of rage that ended up usually with Atliar patching Ephias up with a few potions. When Delphi got bored of Ephias, she turned to Octavian.
This is how Tavi ended up on the Lovell doorstep at 4 am, a large gash from the tip of his shoulder down to his elbow from his apparation backfiring, soaked from the rain. He'd never forget how quickly they took him in.
The third year came, and nothing really exciting happened that he would even care about. The bullying started weakly, and he brushed it off. Nothing truly remarkable happened until a few days before they went on summer break.
Quidditch had their last practice. Him and Fischer waited on the pitch for Kyle and Colby to finish their duel, and Tavi had the greatest idea and offered Fischer a run for his money. The rest of the Pit waited in the stands for them to get their last bouts of energy out, but was caught off guard by the long stream of green shooting from Tavi's wand, and Fischer screaming out, four times.

The Sims 3 Game File Families Part 3/3
Let me introduce the present families in the save file I made for Sims 3. It's just a simple one. The eventual prolog to the actual canon of the game. You'll see familiar Sims and new Sims, of course. I just changed a few things around Sunset Valley, the rest remains the same. This is why I didn't take that long on it. (A hour per day maybe....)
Note: The description contains both family and character bio.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Sekemoto family (Yumi Sekemoto [Original & Younger version] Leighton Sekemoto [Original & Younger version] and Jade Niyamoto.
Sekemoto family:
Yumi was left a widow upon her husband's death. Good thing for her Leighton has always been a well-educated boy due to both parent's raising methods. Leighton now has a girlfriend and hopes for a bright future with her despite his mother not being 100% fond of their relationship....
Yumi Sekemoto: Upon her husband’s death, she and Leighton were on their own. Yumi isn’t quite pleased with Jade being together with his son but learns to accept her with time, upon seeing how well she treats him.
Leighton Sekemoto: Leighton is certain, that Jade is his soulmate and has discreetly planned out a proposal.
Jade Niyamoto: Leighton is the best thing, that has ever happened to her. Growing up at the school’s loser and ending up dating the school’s star athlete was totally not, what most comrades expected. Jade fears their future together. She fears, that she might not be good enough for him and suffers sometimes existential crisis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Alvi family (Miraj Alvi [Original & Younger version], VJ Alvi [Original & Younger version] and Meena Alvi) [Iqbal Alvi remains the same)
Alvi family:
Iqbal and Meena's relationship in the aspect of living seems to be an issue for Meena. Upon an accident, she had to take a part-time job, which would leave her other part of the day to be taking care of the boys or the household. She did ask her husband more, than one time to lean her a hand or other favors, but he would just postpone them....
Meena Alvi: Meena works part-time due to being in a recuperation phase of an operation. Iqbal had promised Meena tons of time, that he would help her after work at home with anything, but this has never happened. Meena has called him out on that too, but as the months moved on, she began to care less about that slowly reducing her work in the household, even watching over her kids….
Iqbal Alvi: Iqbal works had to be able to pay the rent and the food at home. When he’s back home, he spends the rest of the evening sitting in front of the couch watching TV and drinking.
VJ Alvi: VJ was distant with his father, but is in good terms with his mother. He knew how much she complained about her father and suggested to look to herself. Within the time, VJ noticed, that his mother began to change and grow more self-sufficient. This also seemed to have passed down onto VJ pretty quick.
Miraj Alvi: Miraj doesn’t realize at the current age, what’s going on around the household. The only times he sees his parents are the moments, he really needs something and cries….
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Police Academy household (Daniel Lopes, Jake Furtado and Eva Pelicano [Created by Ecofinisher] Hank Goddard and Justine Keaton remain the same
Police Academy family:
Five Sims have moved together to save up enough money to go through their formation. All have their different personalities but appreciate each other's assistance during the rough times.
Hank Goddard: Hank’s school grades didn’t help him get into politics, so he joined the mandatory military course and gained interest in candidature in law enforcement. He was okay at the school, but upon meeting Justine Keaton he teamed up with her to improve his grades at the school.
Eva Pelicano: Eva’s wish as a child was to become a police officer someday. Now that her chance is here, she immediately took it and joined the academy along with her childhood friend, Daniel.
Daniel Lopes: Daniel didn’t have in mind, what actually he wanted to do in the future. His only idea was, that he wanted to help people. When Eva suggested to him, that the academy needed recruits, Daniel came along. Things change between the two during the formation, mostly for Daniel, who starts to see Eva in a different light.
Jake Furtado: Jake was relocated to a different academy due to irregularities around his area. As planned Jake sets his head in the game and hopes to fulfill his lifetime wish someday….
Justine Keaton: Justine’s been in a job seminar looking for possible careers, she could get into after finishing school. From learning about a journalist, who used to work in crime investigation she got quite curious about how it works behind those investigations and gained interest in joining law enforcement to be able to become a DNA profiler.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Night School household (Chad Warwick and Libby Gartner[Created by Ecofinisher]) Ayesha Ansari, Emma Hatch and Cyclon3 Sw0rd remain the same.
Night School:
Five different young adults with different pasts have received a chance to get their degree by attending the night school in Sunset Valley. For the entire year, they have to stay in a pension and most of them don't seem to appreciate their constant sights as much as expected. ..
Ayesha Ansari: As a refugee Ayesha escaped from war among other people and she got lost overseas. Upon getting on land, she was sent to an orphanage, where she didn’t stay for long and she made her life as a con-arist. Upon coming to Sunset Valley for a job, she received the offer to go through night school to get her degree and made there her first and only best friend.
Emma Hatch: A burnout related to stress at school and at home, forced Emma to quit school. During the time, she found passion for cooking and started small at Hogan’s dinner. Three years later, they offered her to attend night school to get her degree, which she thankfully accepted. Thanks to her new friend, Ayesha, she learned how to take things easier and grew confidence.
Cyclon3 Sw0rd: Cyclon3 received from the Doo Peas company a space to learn at the night school. They appreciate his computer skills and don’t want to lose him due to a missing diploma. His biggest challenge will be the studying part…..
Chad Warwick: Chad spent his entire school year tormenting his classmates for being smarter than him. Little did he know, that most of his “victims” got quite successful and made his life into the professional life a pain.
Libby Gartner: The night school is Libby’s only chance in giving her a bigger chance to get her dream job. The worst part of her is the minor time she has for learning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Xandra and Uma Yu-Qin [Created by Ecofinisher]) Jamie Jolina, Pauline Wan, Tamara Donner and Zelda Mae remain the same.
College Girls household 1:
Pauline found this house on a news paper addressed and immediately thought of her best friend Jamie. As they were reaching the end of their high school year, Pauline suggested Jamie to invite their close friends to live with them.
College Girls household 2:
Due to lack of space, Tamara moved next door along with two foreign students. One accident led them to lose their roommate and now Tamara is all alone with the new townie Zelda Mae, who's kinda quirky in some aspects....
Jamie Jolina: Jamie as Pauline’s good friend joined the commune first and brought her classmate Xandra and Tamara. Due to her high intelligence Jamie finds herself a spot in medical school and practices at the hospital in Sunset Valley. Jamie is the most serious person in the household and when circumstances allow, she takes a time out to have fun with her friends.
Pauline Wan: Pauline started this commune in the hope this group of friends could live on together, before one day, they find the right path to their independence.
Tamara Donner: There’s nothing better, than after a long week of work to head out at the dance floor and party! Just as in her teenage years, Tamara still has kept her party-girl behavior...
Xandra: Xandra hasn’t decided yet, what area she should go into. Journalism or Politics. At the moment, she’s working part-time and upon finishing school, she hopes to have set her decision.
Uma Yu-Quin: Yu-Quin wasn’t really interested in joining this commune. Due to expensive homes around the town, she accepted the offer of Pauline and moved on.
Zelda Mae: Zelda wasn't sure about what to do with her life and moved in into a commune with two other women. Due to Zelda's rather party and childish-like behavior she earned a unpopularity in that household. She distanced herself from the roommates and developed a high interest into gardening, which she began using in her daily lives after a hard day of work.

Being a great wrestler means winning championships, gaining a large fanbase, making money, and becoming the face of a company
But being Sasha Banks’ cousin means all that with more pressure
Growing up, although you were younger than her, you and Mercedes would continuously dream about your future careers
You two were so different but had the same goals of wanting to stand out from all other talents on the roster and become the best of the best
And you would do precisely that: competing with and against each other, main eventing shows, winning championships, having five-star matches, and creating amazing feuds
Being a part of a family that is known for having well-known names, you wanted to uphold that. And you did as you created a household name for yourself, even managing to be dubbed a future hall-of-famer
However, you wanted to see what more the wrestling world had to offer.
As much as Mercedes wanted you to stay, she understood that you have to do what makes you happy.
As you departed from WWE and started to look for another company to call home, one stood out to you…AEW
AEW quickly confirmed to the world that you were “all elite,” even though the ink didn’t dry yet
As three months rolled by, you were happy with your place in the company; you were seen as a leader within the locker room, quickly became the number one contender for the women’s world championship, and start working with people you worked with in WWE
You also quickly became friends with many people like Eddie Kingston, Ricky Starks, Ethan Page, Daniel Garcia, and Nyla Rose
But the one person with you quickly built a stable friendship was Tyler Senerchia, aka Hook
You two couldn’t help but bond as you had a lot in common
And you would be lying if you said you weren’t attracted to the “cold-hearted handsome devil” (it’s a good thing you’re single)
To bond with each other as well as other people, you both were invited to be on Ethan Page’s vlog, where you shop for vintage objects and collectibles
On the vlog, you could be seen always standing beside Tyler in the background; talking about wrestling, favorite action heroes, favorite games and toys, or even giggling at the sentences he would say under his breath
At one point, you noticed that Tyler always had his eye on this Snoop Dogg figurine: “Hey, you keep looking at it. Why not get it?”
While picking it up, Tyler replies: “For $150? I can think of other places to spend $150.”
Ethan was also trying to convince him to get the toy but was scared to be put in the Redrum.
Even though he kept denying it, you knew he truly wanted that toy. As if a lightbulb went off in your head, you thought of something that would make it worth much more than 150 dollars
“Let’s make a bet.” Tyler nodded his head for you to continue, “I bet I can make that toy worth your money if I could get it signed by Snoop Dogg himself.”
Ethan’s face lit up: “Nah, you have to get it now, Hook.”
Tyler’s eyes slightly widened as he scoffed, “How?”
Your eyes widened as well at the fact that he didn’t know your connections
If Sasha Banks is your cousin, that means Snoop Dogg is your cousin as well. The fact that Tyler forgot that, as much time as y’all spend together, was crazy
You regained your posture and gave him a smile, “Don’t worry about that, I have connections. I can get that toy signed by the next show.”
“And if you can’t?”
“Then, I will pay you back double the amount you spent on the toy.” You smirked, knowing this is an offer he cannot refuse
Ethan’s head and the camera kept panning back and forth between the two of you, “I think that’s a great deal! Shake on it.”
You put your hand out first and Tyler, while smirking, immediately shook it
Signifying the bet was legitimate and official
Then Friday came, which meant it was time for Rampage
You walked around backstage feeling good about yourself: you had a championship match for the AEW Women’s World Championship in your hometown, you look great, and, most importantly, you won’t be out of 300 dollars
As you were stretching near the gorilla, preparing for your match, a figure appeared. You looked up to see the FTW champion, in orange shorts and the championship around his shoulder
“Ah, the cold-hearted handsome devil. What do I owe thee?”
He looked to your side where the figure remained unsigned, “Well, I can see that you don’t have the figure. Which means you lost the bet that you made.”
You got up from your stretching position with a smirk, “I didn’t though. Look behind you.”
Tyler turned around to the sight of Snoop Dogg walking towards them with his entourage. His jaw immediately dropped before going stone-faced again
“Hey, lil lady.” Snoop said coming around to hug you. He turned to Tyler, with his hand out. “You must be Hook, right?”
Tyler nodded before shaking his hand. “Yeah, nice to meet you.”
“Ight, what am I signing again?”
You gave him the figure and he started chucking. “Oh yeah, I remember the screening for this. It was a hectic day man.”
“What was it like?” Tyler asked as he watched Snoop sign it with a gold Sharpie.
As Snoop recounted the day, you couldn’t help but admire Tyler. Both his bright smile and brown eyes seemed to get wider as he was processing that Snoop Dogg was in front of him, signing the one thing he was doubting getting.
You hope this moment will be one of the greatest in his life, and one he will thank you later for
Just as the conversation got deeper, a stagehand came up and requested both you and Snoop Dogg to the entrance tunnel.
As you started to walk away, Tyler pulled you back. “How did you get him here and to sign it?”
You were about to answer until you heard Snoop on the mic “Y’all ready to see the hometown hero become the hometown champ?”
“Gotta go, but you’ll see!”
You quickly walked up the stairs and out to the crowd, while Snoop was rapping along to your entrance music
Tyler remained backstage, looking at the monitor in awe. He saw how big your smile got when the crowd started to get louder. He softly smiled at your image, before his thoughts got interrupted by Snoop Dogg saying “Aye y’all, give it up for my lil cousin, the future women’s champion!“
Tyler’s heart stopped pumping for a minute, as he took in the words. How could he not have known?
“How could you not have known?” A voice said from beside him, it was no other than Ricky Starks
“You knew?”
“Yes, everyone knew. I’m surprised you didn’t though. I mean, you knew Sasha Banks was her cousin right? You know how close they are”
“Yeah, I just forgot about her family tree.”
“Dude, you’re an idiot.” Ricky laughed as he walked away
Tyler inwardly groaned before paying attention back to the monitor to see that the match started
He started to focus so much that he didn’t recognize that Snoop was standing right beside him five minutes later. “She’s great, isn’t she?”
Tyler looked up and nodded his head in agreement, “Yeah, one of the best.”
Moments pass by before you hit your finisher and got the victory pinfall. Confetti exploded everywhere, the crowd was on their feet, and you were crying tears of happiness as the referee raised your hand
You looked around, taking in the moment, before rolling out the ring to high-five fans and hug your family members that were in attendance
After a couple of moments, you appeared backstage to applause and various coworkers coming up to you and congratulating you on your victory
Snoop and Tyler high-fived each other before Snoop spoke up again, “Listen, man, you a good-looking rascal. My lil cousin is a beautiful woman. Y’all both champs now, you should get together.”
Tyler looked across the room at you smiling at everyone. And as soon as the two of you made eye contact, his heart fluttered.
“And” Your cousin started again, “If you need any more reason to ask her, she broke up with her scrub of a boyfriend last month. Completely single.”
Tyler looked up one more time to see the group of people dispersing and you on talking on your phone
Thanks to the encouragement from your cousin, he decided now was the time.
He walked to you and engulfed you in a hug without any words exchanged
“Congratulations” He whispered
“Thank you” You smiled at his neck. He pulled back, making you sigh internally, missing the warmth he brought to your body. “Hey, don’t you have a match soon? You need to go get ready for that.”
“I would, but what I’m about to do is so much more important.” You raised your eyebrow, questioning a statement. He spoke up again before you could say anything, “Let’s make a bet.”
“Okay…”
He took a deep breath before saying, “With my match, if I win, you have to go on a date with me.”
Your eyes widened, “Tyl-“
You were cut off by a screech coming from your phone, you looked to find Mercedes smiling from ear to ear. “Get it girl!”
“Mercedes, shut up!” You quickly hung up and turned back to Tyler, who was smiling and chuckling. “W-What if you lose?”
“As if I would.” He rolled his eyes in a playful manner, “Then, I’ll pay you 300 dollars.”
As you were about to give your answer, you looked over Tyler’s shoulder to see Snoop giving you a thumbs up while mouthing “Go for it!”
You smiled as you told Tyler “It’s a deal.”
You two shook hands just as his entrance music started up, he smirked before walking to the entrance tunnel
Snoop came up beside you as you watched Tyler’s figure go through the curtain. “You’re welcome.”
You smiled as you looked at the monitor to watch.
And actually, Tyler’s match finished very quickly, not surprisingly
Needless to say, you now have a date to prepare for
All thanks to your cousin

Captain Confusion
A/N: Inspired by this video that makes me weep with its cuteness! I just had to write this okay 🥺🥺🥺 This is in the same universe as Homeward Bound, which happens after this story. Feel free to give it a read after this, if you haven’t already! ALSO should note that the lovely @ohmygoodie is my Sy partner in crime and without them this fic would not be made possible :)
Warning: mention of operations/hospitals, and a whole lot of fluff!
Tumblr media
It was a simple procedure and so it hadn't worried you too much, other than the usual fears when a loved one is under the knife while in the hands of trained doctors. Sy’s hernia had been authorised for operation only five minutes into the doctor’s appointment you had all but dragged him to, and scheduled for 4 days later. Not really much time to prepare mentally, but you knew it was necessary with your big bear of a man in pain. Despite the painkillers prescribed, he was walking with a limp and groaning in bed for all the wrong reasons.
In the waiting room, you and his Ma kept busy during the 45 minute wait by looking through magazines, talking about how the Captain’s quality of life will improve, and what kind of minor jobs you’ll have him do around the house while he’s recovering as you continue to work.
“I hope the recovery isn’t as long as some people have said. I know for a fact he’ll not want to be cooped up all day. If he’s anything, he’s stubborn” you sigh, knowingly.
Ma smiles, looking at you pointedly, knowing that she is in the presence of the only other soul who knows what is best for her son. “He knows better now that his health is his wealth. He’s got a lot more riding on being well now. After all, it’s not just him he’s gotta be there for anymore.”
“Yeah, I mean I always tell him, he’s not 25 anymore. Or even 30. I’ll need you to back me up, he does anything you say. I’m his equal, you’re his Mom.”
You both laugh a little, hers warm and kind, while yours tinges with the remaining hopeful nerves of an army Captain’s wife. You don’t like not knowing about your Sy, especially since you spent all those years apart, not knowing if he was safe, or even alive. The waiting, in any capacity, is the hardest part.
You’re flipping through a random tabloid magazine, when the surgeon in charge walks through to the waiting room.
“Everything went really well with Captain Syverson. He’s coming to from the anaesthetic and asking for his Ma?”
Ma grins before sucking her teeth between her lips watching as your mouth drops. You both move from the waiting area to follow the surgeon towards where your husband is resting. You speak under your breath, only wanting Sy’s Ma to hear you; “I hope he still remembers how to grovel after this.”
Tumblr media
Ma enters the room with you following her, arriving only a couple more corridors along from where you’d last seen him earlier that morning. He may not have asked for you but you were going to see Sy whether he wanted it or not. A grand push of the door allows it to swing open, and suddenly there he is. A little disoriented but has a large dopey smile plastered on his face as soon as he sees his Ma. His heavy head lolls to one side as he rests it on the plush hospital pillow.
“Hey Ma” he groans out as she bends over her large son to give his forehead a kiss, taking his hand in hers. He spends a moment just gazing at her for a while, the love he has for her evident on his face, as she tells him that everything went well, and that he can go home tomorrow.
It’s only after this tender mother and son moment, that he notices you.
“Ma.... why ya bringing a beautiful girl here when I’m like this...oh god I’m not wearing underwear Ma!”
His feeble attempt at trying to cover himself means that you actually end up seeing far more of him than you expected. Nothing you hadn’t seen before, but it definitely hasn't happened in front of his own mother before. The whole situation makes you blush and giggle a little as you try your best to avoid eye contact with Ma. You can only imagine the look on her face, and you don’t want to get any more involved with Sy’s naked form than you need to right now.
Rather than put you and your poor Sy through any further embarrassment, Ma speaks up.
“Oh darlin’, this is y/n. You remember her, right?”
And while he’s listening - or at least pretending to listen to his Ma fussing over him again - he’s just staring at you, gazing in awe as if you were the one to hang the stars in the sky.
“You are.... so pretty” he slurs, making you break out a genuine smile that he mirrors, glad that he was the one to make you look even more pretty.
“Well thanks handsome. How do you feel?” you perch on the edge of the bed and hold his hand. To him, the gesture feels warm and inviting - even if he doesn't know you, he recognises something about you in the comfort that you bring.
“Feel like shit. Oh fuck i said ‘shit’ in front of the lady” he whines again, scrunching his eyes closed as hangs his head in shame. It looks like he might even cry with the realisation that he’s made such a foolish impression of himself. It takes Ma shushing him and making him take a sip of juice from his bedside to calm down, dabbing his face with a cloth when his juice spills from his mouth.
“Oh Logan Daniel Syverson...what did they do to ya?” she lightly scolds as she helps clean up the mess he’s unknowingly created around him. That’s your Sy, a hurricane of mess that somehow fits into order just how he likes it.
You giggle a little more at his shameful expression, before he refocuses, giving you his undivided attention once more.
“How is it that ya know my Ma and we’ve never met? Or have we? ‘Cause I think i’d remember a face like yours”
“Well...” you start, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear to let him see your entire face, hoping it would jog his memory. As you do so, the ring on your fourth finger glints in the hospital light, and for the first time since you've entered the room, he’s noticed.
“Oh...man...knew a girl like you would be snatched up already. Whoever has the honour of being yours is a very lucky man.” He smiles softly, a wistful look in his eye, while makes you realise that you can’t wait for the drugs to leave his system, you have to remind him who you are and who he is, right this very moment.
“Sy honey... we’re married. You’re my husband, and I’m your wife. I think the drugs are making you more than a bit loopy.”
It’s his turn for his jaw to drop, his eyes are unblinking as he takes in what you’ve just said. He turns sharply - more than his doctor would have probably liked - to his Ma, and then back to you, and then his Ma again, waiting for one of you to burst out laughing at the prank you surely must be playing on him.
“Wha-? A wife? I have a wife?” you nod and he exhales a deep breath of air in amazement.
“YOU’RE my wife? Really?” you nod again and Ma smiles at you as she watches the scene of Logan meeting you all over again.
“Am I still in the army? I’m a Captain ya know”
“You left just a few months ago. You still work in the local camps, of course. You like it there, and you’re home every night and most weekends.”
“Does Ma like you?” You don’t even get a chance to finish as he turns to his mother “Do you like her? is she nice? Does she like your new kitchen? I built it y’know.”
You knew when you met, dated, and married him, that Sy was a Momma’s boy. He loves his mother so much, that her opinion will always mean the world to him.
Ma nods “You two are the sweetest couple. She’s the best addition to the family, gives you a run for your money alright. She’s my new favourite.” You get a soft hug from her as she says this, with her wrapping her arm around your shoulders and pulling you close. She’s always felt so grateful that her Logan found you, because my goodness did he love you ferociously, and he needed you in his life. You were the making of him, and the whole Syverson clan will forever be grateful to you for it.
"And where did we get married? If we really are married.” He continues his line of questioning.
“At the ranch, on your family’s land. it was such a special day. We had the reception there too. And we went to Italy for our honeymoon.”
Sy is basking in every word you say, praying it to be true, as if he could will it into existence if it hadn’t already happened, wanting badly to remember sunset kisses and italian food and beach days all spent with you. He perks up at the last thing you say, taken by complete surprise.
“Honeymoon?! Oh my god have we...ya know..?” A blush fades over Sy’s face, and even though you love his Ma, you really wish she wasn’t finding out so many details about your personal life today, like how your son rails you on the regular in many ways, and in many places. He must somehow remember or at least accurately imagine your past endeavours, as he grins like a little shit.
You smack his arm, lightly but with a firm hand.
“Be quiet, or the whole ward will know about our sex life” you threaten. “Yes we’ve had sex. i’d hope so given that we have a kid on the way.”
If Ma had had to deal with her son getting horny over his “new”wife, she was being fully compensated for it as she witnessed him fall head over heels in love with you, all over again.
“A kid?...Tell me ya not messing with me...are we really- I-” he swallows and his tears come even easier than before “We’re havin’ a baby?” With the sudden realisation, he turns to his Ma. “This beautiful woman right here’s havin’ my kid, Ma?” He looks between the two of you again, watching as you both nod and beam from ear to ear.
“You know you cried just as much when i told you for the first time too. i promise when the drugs are out your system it’ll all make sense again.”
Sy smiles, clutching your hand in his warm palm, almost scared to let go as the door is knocked and he feels you might be taken away. Instead, it’s a welcome visitor.
“Hey doc,” Sy greets the man who reenters the room, now freshly out of scrubs  to visit his patient - who if anything is now simply love sick, no hernia to be found. “This is my wife, and she’s having a baby.” he looks back to you with a quirk of his eyebrow “My baby?” You roll your eyes and he confirms it; “my baby.”
“Oh, congratulations...again.”
The doctor’s evaluation and explanations don’t take long, and while Sy is being informed, you start rubbing your belly as a form of self-comfort. You will need to remind your child that while their father looks incredibly stern and impossibly large, he is silly and goofy and already loves them with his entire being. Over the course of the afternoon, Sy talks with you while the anaesthetic wears off. It turns out they had given him a pretty high dosage based on his height and muscle mass, so he would be out of action for a couple of hours at least.
Tumblr media
“Oh, i have your ring” you pipe up before he starts getting too sleepy again, taking the thick gold band off of the necklace around your neck, placing it on his finger carefully.
“That feels better already” he sighs, as he begins to doze in and out of consciousness. Before he closes his eyes once more to rest peacefully, a small tear slides down his cheek, which you of course, notice. Sy has cried maybe 5 times in the time you’ve known him and three of those times have been in this very room.
“Honey what’s wrong? Are you in pain? i can call the doctor-”
“No i’m fine i’m fine i just-” he sniffs and tries to clear his throat from the sad, heavy pain he feels in his chest. “I’m gonna be real sad when I wake up from this dream. What if I can’t find you when I wake up?”
Oh your sweet, silly man.
“Bear it’s not a dream, I’ll be right here when you get up properly and we can go home and cuddle and I’ll heat up your favourite meal. I’ll be right there with you.”
“And the baby?” he asks, eyes wide. almost nervous to ask.
“Well they have to come too, they're with me. We can look at their pictures again so you can get reacquainted. And Aika will be so happy you’re back. We’ve been gone the whole day.”
“Aika!” your husband perks up, “Oh Aika, man....I love that dog..”
“I know you do bear, you just get some rest for now and then we can go home.”
Before you know it, he’s fallen back to sleep, his mouth wide open as he slumps against his pillow, completely out of it.
Tumblr media
It’s dark outside when Sy opens his eyes again, watching as his Ma passes you a small herbal tea in the dimly lit hospital room. Technically visiting hours are over, but no one was going to argue with the Captain’s family. You smile, and he feels like he can finally relax, in your presence
“Well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes” he growls lowly, and you look up at him from your phone, beaming in surprise, glad that your husband had woken up feeling a bit more like himself.
“Oh hello again” you smile and squeeze his hand, his slow blinking already indicating a much clearer mind, and that he knows exactly who you are.
“Again? What’d I miss?”
“The drugs” he stops you mid-sentence for a sweet kiss, acting as though a minute more without your lips would be the source of his downfall. “Mmmh, the drugs made you so loopy, it was the sweetest thing, Sy.” You grin as he pulls you up beside him on the bed.
He raises his eyebrows, clearly with no recollection of any of the past events. Yet still, he smiles.
“Yeah? How’s baby?” he holds you close to his side, wrapping an arm around your waist so he can cover your tummy with his palm.
“They’re great. Glad to have daddy back and sane.”
You swear that as you say that, he starts tearing up again, this time however he doesn’t let them fall. He was openly weeping earlier, but you won’t tell him that. Not yet.
“Damnit. Must be something in these drugs they got me on.”
“Mm-hmm sure bear.”
You stay close that evening, both curled up on a hospital bed that is already quite a tight fit for your husband alone. But as always, he makes it work. You’re half on top of him, both of you fast asleep, when the nurses come to do their rounds. Ma had left just after he had woken up, sneaking off into the night to let the rest of the family know how her most middle son is keeping after the operation. You’d cuddled and doted on each other until you’d fallen asleep, Sy following not long after as he bid goodnight to you and your precious cargo with a soft kiss to your lips, and protective rub of your stomach.
He counts himself more than lucky to have something so good, that it would pain him to forget. He was living the life that he’d been too scared to ever dream of, and he couldn’t be more grateful.

Law of Attraction { Lando Norris x reader }
Tumblr media
Disclamer : Swearing !!!
It was a busy weekend for the Mclaren team, they were about to get associated with a new partner. It was a huge contract and it was your first big deal. Mclaren just hired you, you were on probation before your contract will be real. You couldn’t mess up, you needed this job, needed to make your proof. You just got your law degree and it was your first job as a lawyer and you got lucky that you found yourself working as a Mclaren F1 Team new attorney.
This contract was important for both parties and it would go to the press as well. You were set to make your client sign during the next grand prix weekend and it was this weekend.
You spend hours and hours in your office reading the partner offer but something was bugging you and you couldn’t put your finger on it . You had to fly this afternoon to join all the team in Austria and you were starting to feel stress because you knew you had to put that deal on your boss table for him to sign, but that it wasn’t a good one and that we would basically get screw over by some clause or something, you knew it in your guts, you just need to find which pieces of puzzle you were missing. If the partner attorney thought he could easily screw you over like this because you were in your first year of work, he was wrong. You might be a newbie but one thing your mentor had taught you was to never show your weakness. That’s why you spend all night writing a new contract, word by word like the original, to find that little detail and you end up finding it. You were ehausted and tomorrow was the signing day, but now you were ready to show that we can’t fuck you over easily and that nobody should ever underestimated you. That was probably why mister Brown had give you the job, hearing things from is old attorney and your mentor was one thing, but proving how worth of the job you were is another and it will be soon be your moment of glory, but you couldn’t celebrate victory to soon, another thing you mentor had teach you.
Today was the day of the signing, you were stressed, you didn’t know how this would turn out. You were scared to have made a mistake and the lack of sleep was starting to rub on you. You had your plan in your mind, letting the other party think they had the upper hand and not tell them you had found the hair in the soup that will make your client profit and not lose all his money. It was important for you to not show your whole game to the adversary, but let him build his ego before you put that last card that will make you win the whole game in hand.
To make it official, Mclaren had to make the deal in their motorhome, Mister Brown wanted his two drivers to be there with him while signing as well because it was an important partnership for the whole team. It will be your first time seeing them since you entered the company, you were based in the factory back in Woking, but never had met any of them. You were quite intimidated, but the job was coming before anything else, no matter how many hours you spend in your free time to search about these two drivers, focusing on one in particular because he was around your age and something was telling you that the two of you were somewhat alike in certain ways of your life. You would lie to yourself if you didn’t find him attractive as well, but your personal preference when it comes to man can’t interfere with your work, it was your first and most important rule in your code of conduct you had set yourself on when you started studying law.
You arrive early in the paddock, hoping to visit around and discover this whole new world that you knew nothing about. You gotta visit the garage of your team, mechanics were happy to explain to you one thing or two, having a silent competition between them for the one that will have the testosterone level at his highness and find a way to make you fall for them. You already know their little trick going to law school with men, nothing could surprise you anymore. You knew you were pretty or had a little something more perhaps, but seeing gentlemans thinking the same was actually really flattering. After this pleasant little escapade, you find yourself walking the stairs of the Mclaren motorhome reading to meet everyone in the meeting room. You were the last one to enter the room, but you could give yourself the right to make an entrance after the thing you discovered during your sleepless night of searching dirt on the company represented by the douchebag sitting on the opposite side of the table. By his face you knew this man was an asshole and that it wasn’t his first rodeo and you were ready to put a stop into his little illegal business.
However when your eyes meet the drivers, especially the youngest one, your heart skips a bit, before you turn yourself and find your boss judging your rather late presence. You quickly apologize with a nod of the head before inviting them all to sit around the table and start the meeting.
Everything was going smoothly, everyone was happy, except you. You already hated what you were about to do,but you had to act fast otherwise it will be too late and the papers would be signed in front of your eyes.
“ Excuse me, I have one more question before we head toward the signature. “ You interrupted the conversation, looking at your boss, waiting for his approval to continue. After all you were only doing your job to assure everything is well covered, he couldn’t argue on that. The opposite camp didn’t have any objection for you to give a go to your wonder, thinking it would be innocent coming from a young lawyer that is still learning about the job. He made a gesture toward you, avoiding getting over this.
“ Well, mister Backfield, without due respect I was wondering why you were so eager to help our company, I did some research, you know. Usually you are investing in smaller businesses, which will lower profit. Why show the Mclaren F1 Team when it's new territory for you ? “
And action, you knew that every word that was about to leave this man’s mouth would only be total lies, but he didn’t know that. You had the upper hand by far and you won’t give him the satisfaction to put down this team and family.
And he tried hard to explain, save his case, defend himself and if you were naive you would have believed the guy but you weren't and could give a shit about his speech.
" Well I'm afraid I can't let this go on further. "
Everyone around the table was stunted, not knowing what to say. Mister Brown was reading to make you go before you heard him a piece of paper and that's when his face changed and he let you continue.
" You see Mister Backfield, you thought you could screw us over and try to go fish at a bigger price. Unfortunately for you I find out who you truly are. A piece of garbage buying company when they must need it, making them believe you will help them develop until somehow by some miracle they are forced to declare bankruptcy a couple years ago and then you buy them twice the price they truly worth before miraculously going back on the high to sell them three times the price. I don't know you but I call that stealing and corruption and I'm not ready to let my company get fucked over by an asshole like you so you can take you goddamn deal, walk away from here and never show your face around us again or I can talk to the press and trust me they are going to love it. One thing for sure is that if it happens I might win big and no negotiation put on the table will make me give you your money back. " You threw him middle fingers as you stood up and showed him the door.
Everyone was so shocked they couldn't speak, not because of the revelation in itself but how you had handled the whole situation like a true boss, with confidence and pride.
Someone in the room was even more impressed and couldn't even close his mouth, clearly admiring you. If you knew better you would say that right there Lando Norris was falling in love with you and if that wasn't boasting your ego then you didn't know what will.
Mr Brown was the first one to come to you as you all watched the security guys escorting Mr Backfield out of the paddock. He was about to say something but the rush of adrenaline was making you bold and you beat him to it.
" I am so sorry mister Brown I know I should have informed you before the meeting, but honestly I wasn't even sure before entering in that room that my information was right and I only received the confirmation a minute before being here, explaining why I was late. Truly I'm sorry if I put your entire team in a difficult position, I will try to find the best replacement for you I promise you. " You were almost out of breath as you finish you log apologize but realize soon enough that it didn't really matter here.
" I am impressed with you, first month on the job and you are already making yourself irreplaceable, you shouldn't have to apologize and I certainly should be thanking you and giving you a raise. Your mentor was right to gush about you. You are someone else." Proud could be seen in his eyes and his smile couldn't leave his face as he hugged you awkwardly saying thank you one more time before leaving and going back to the garage with Daniel who made sure to wink at you and make a big thumbs up at you before heading out.
However, someone hadn't left his seat, Lando. You thought he was just going to stay there and ignore you but as you were opening the door he smashed it back close behind you.
" I observed you all weekend, wondering why such a little fragile person was headlining such a big deal like this but it turns out I was wrong, never judge a book by it's cover. I'm learning it the hard way. "
You turn to face him ready to get back at him but his lips on you made you shut up. He pushes you against that door again, putting his hands on your lower back. At first you were confused as to why he was kissing but eventually you just stopped resisting and let yourself enjoy the moment. You had a thing for him and you were now sure that these weird eye contacts weren't that innocent. He had a thing for you too.
His kiss could make you reach the roof, you never felt something like that before, not that you had much experience, he knew exactly what would make you moan into his lips and lose balance so he could tighten the grip around you. You needed air but you would not allow it to yourself, you wanted more, you wanted him.
The adrenaline in your system was still pumping through your veins and you couldn't really think straight, your hands found the back of his head, playing with his loose locks of hair. You were holding on for dear life on this ride despite the fact you barely knew the guy.
Lando ends up breaking it up and you realise you were hooked around him as he put you down on your feet again.
" Just for the record, what you did before was so fucking hot that I would gladly be a criminal if that means you would be the one to put me in jail. "
He made you laugh, you were gasping for air, messy hair, swallow lips and redness on the cheeks, no speaking of your clothes being runned and unfolding and your shoes not even on your feet anymore. Everyone knows what they say about aan that can make a woman laugh and you wouldn't argue on that, not with him anyway.
Now that you had a taste of Lando, you wanted more, so much more and by the look on his eyes he was willing to explore the " more " area with you too.
" Okay that was unexpected, but the good kind, so here's what we're going to do. You will knock twice on my door at 23pm tonight, room 344, not a minute before and not a minute after, hope you know what punctuality is because you won't get a second chance. " You gathered all your things, trying to clean yourself to make it look like nothing had happened before you caught Lando's chin in your palm.
" Hope you will have a good defense, because tonight is going to be the trial of your life " You blow him a kiss before leaving his sight, a pride face drawing on you.

Shop - DR3 Imagine
Part 2 to Zoo!
Daniel Ricciardo Imagine
Summary: You and Daniel are thinking about having a family :)
This contains mentions of periods, fertility and pregnancy so please do not read this if you think you may find it triggering!
Please let me know if you have any f1 requests, I am more than happy to write anything for you!
You weren’t quite sure that your sex life with Daniel could have become any more frequent but ever since you had considered trying to get pregnant it had seemed to. Over the Christmas period, anytime you guys had some time to yourselves you would end up in between the sheets in the kitchen, in the shower. The car when you were coming home from shopping, a dark cupboard when you had popped out somewhere and sometimes the toilet if you were at a party. Throughout the day you’d be watching a movie on the sofa, his hands would be tracing circles on your hips and he’d look up and say, “you might be at your most fertile now”. You would roll your eyes; you didn’t need an excuse to sleep together.
You had only briefly mentioned to you families that you were thinking of having kids. Neither of you wanted the pressure of people constantly asking how it was going because neither of you knew how it was going to go. You hadn’t been in this position before, you’d never been pregnant and although you had regular periods you didn’t know if you were fertile, or if Daniel was capable of having kids either.
It wasn’t until you were in Monaco at Daniels apartment and he was away at preseason testing that you first had an inkling that something had changed. When you were anxious you often felt sick, so when you woke up one morning and couldn’t get the thought of throwing up out of your head you began to wonder what was subconsciously on mind that was making you feel like this. Suddenly you got up out of bed and headed straight for the toilet, just about making it in time. You didn’t feel any better after getting yourself ready for the day and decided maybe some food would make you feel better. However upon opening the cupboards, you were met with a stale loaf of bread and not much else.
Daniel had kindly left you the keys to his car, he often did this while he was away and you were very grateful especially when you weren’t in your town with your own car near. When you arrived at the supermarket you grabbed a trolley and began to fill it with food. With Daniel home in a few days you knew you’d need to get a lot in. You passed through the medicine isle and grabbed some calming sweets. You had used since you were younger, and they always made you more relaxed. Your eyes glanced up and down the shelves as you walked through as you tried to recall anything that you might need. You saw some pregnancy tests on the top shelf so reached up to grab some and added them to your shopping. They were something you kept stocked up on just in case your period was late. Kind of just as a reassurance. It wasn’t until you reached the bread isle and the smell of baking dough made you gag that your eyes widened.
You were nervous to take a test, knowing that this could be the first time a positive line might appear with your intention for it to. You weren’t sure how Daniel would react, of course you’d had the discussion about kids but what if he’d changed his mind since being away? You didn’t mention it to him when he facetimed you that night. Your phone had rung while you were crying away at a film you’d stuck on the TV from Netflix. He chuckled slightly at the sight of you, you didn’t often cry at films unless you were due on your period and hormonal.
“Must almost be that time of the month” he smiled on your screen.
“Yeah I think it is” you stared at him as he spoke. He really was the love of your life. You didn’t want to take his mind off testing so you decided to tell him about your suspicions when he was home that weekend.
When Daniel arrived home, he was greeted by rose petals trailing from the doorway towards your bedroom. You often did nice things for him when he arrived home and he loved it. When he was away he’d send you gifts which you always refused to accept but eventually gave in, saying if he didn’t want you to have it he wouldn’t have bothered ordering it. You often felt guilty, knowing that you couldn’t spend the same amount on him that he did on you. You hated it but he reminded you how it was the little things you did for him that meant the most. His exact words were “Brands send me stuff all the time, but they don’t leave notes in with my lunch telling me how much I mean to them”. You felt defeated sometimes, but it was true, Daniel wasn’t the type of person who wanted to show off how much money he had, it was his family that meant the most to him.
He dropped his suitcase at the door and immediately headed in your direction. You had heard him come in, his usual shout announcing his presence had been forgotten about due to his curiosity. You had on some lingerie and a silk dressing gown that he’d brought you for Christmas. You took one final glance in the mirror before leaving the ensuite and meeting him in the bedroom.
“Hey baby” you wrapped you arms around his neck as he brought you in for a hug, “I’ve missed you”.
“Oh I think I’ve missed you more” He loved being in your presence, your smell, your smile, he just loved it.
“I doubt that” you gave him a peck on the lips as you pulled apart, he took one of your arms and twirled you around.
“You look insane” a compliment from him never failed to make you blush. That’s what you loved about your relationship, the spark never seemed to disappear. You rolled your eyes slightly but the smile stuck on your face was a giveaway that no matter what he said made you weak in the knees. Overtime your confidence had grown and you’d learnt to give it back. You had slightly less sexual experience that Daniel when you’d met to say the least. He admired how you tried not to let it show, he found it quite cute actually, which is why he was surprised when one day the tables turned and rather than getting you to beg for it, it was him doing the asking. He liked it more than he let on and that didn’t go unnoticed as you watched his every move. You had started teasing him more at work, especially when your relationship was still unannounced and there wasn’t much he could do about it. Your favourite was at dinners or parties when you were both dressed up and couldn’t take your eyes off one another. That’s what tonight had felt like. The few days apart had made you irresistible to one another. You both laid in bed for a while after just looking at each other in a comfortable silence and you decided that you couldn’t keep it to yourself any longer.
“I love you” you whispered; a tear ran down your cheek as you spoke which turned his loving smile into a look of concern. He immediately pulled you on top of him and then in for a hug.
“I love you too” As he spoke you began to cry more into his neck. You lifted you head up after a minute or so and looked at him. Whenever you were upset he’d never immediately ask you what was wrong, he’d comfort you until you were ready to speak about it. His facial expression softened slightly when you let out a little laugh. He couldn’t help but smile at the state of you which made you laugh a bit more.
“I’ve been an emotional wreck the last few days” you admitted, “and I think I might know why”. Your hands played with his as you sat on his lower stomach. You still felt nervous as his eyes scanned your body even after all these years. He’d seen you naked countless amounts of time and had probably seen your body from more angles than you’d like to admit but his gaze still made you shy.
“Your period?” he asked casually.
“No” you took a deep breath and looked him in the eyes as you held his hands still on his stomach. “I think I might be pregnant”.

Since the very conception of the motion picture, the LGBT community have been represented on-screen in some form. An early example is Algie the Miner (1912), a short silent film which follows the effeminate Algie (Billy Quirk), who enjoys kissing cowboys. In order to marry someone’s daughter, he heads west to prove that he’s a man. While this is quite an outdated stereotype of being gay, the portrayals have varied greatly over time. Only recently is LGBT representation becoming more positive and common. However, when it comes to portraying bisexuality on-screen, it still seems to be a difficult task.
Many narrative tropes have been birthed through filmmakers trying to show sexuality on-screen and most of them contribute directly to the overall erasure of bisexuality in cinema – usually with ambiguous portrayals, negative stereotyping and characters needing to pick a side. Not all instances are problematic, but their prevalence isn’t helping to combat the stigma that bisexual people face. There are three main tropes when it comes to depicting bisexuality, which is infidelity, picking a side, and the horrible husband. They’re usually found together in a common narrative that erases bisexuality, whether intentional or not.
Infidelity
There’s a long-standing stereotype that bisexual people are more likely to cheat on their partners and are incapable of commitment. This is a trope that is heavily carried in some of the most well-known depictions of bisexuality. Typically, a female protagonist is engaged or married to a man, but she meets a lesbian woman and they become involved sexually and romantically, leaving the protagonist torn between two lovers. This happens in Imagine Me & You (2005) when Rachel (Piper Perabo) falls in love with lesbian flower shop owner Luce (Lena Headey), who provided the flowers for her wedding to Hector (Matthew Goode). It’s a fairly average film that could’ve been amazing had it acknowledged Rachel’s bisexuality, but it’s still one of the better ones considering Perabo and Headey have amazing chemistry.
For some reason, bisexual characters are often in serious relationships when they’re suddenly sexually awakened. This happened to Rachel right after her wedding because she happened to meet the right woman. While this type of experience does happen in real life, it’s always the go-to narrative for films about women realizing they’re not one-hundred-percent straight. In these instances, the same-sex love affair acts as the conflict within the narrative – this can create good drama when done right, but it gets boring and bisexual characters deserve better than constantly being portrayed as cheaters. People are not more promiscuous or likely to cheat on their partners because of their sexuality, but these tropes are constantly telling people otherwise.
We deserve to see bisexual characters whose sexuality isn’t the main narrative focus or who at least explore their sexuality outside of a relationship. Appropriate Behaviour (2014) is a good example of this as Shirin (Desiree Akhavan, who is also the film’s writer and director) is a bisexual Persian American woman who is keeping her sexuality a secret from her judgemental family, while also attempting to rebuild her life after breaking up with her girlfriend. Seeing bisexuality portrayed on-screen is another place where people pick up more stigma or acceptance, and with bisexuality it, unfortunately, seems to be the former. This is why bisexual filmmakers like Akhavan are better suited to portraying the experiences of bisexual men and women than others.
Picking A Side
When the protagonist is in conflict with her sexuality, the people around her usually wonder if she’s a lesbian now – despite them being engaged or married to a man. This can be seen in Below Her Mouth (2010) where Jasmine (Natalie Krill) begins having an affair with Dallas (Erika Linder). When her husband finds out, he tells her “You’re a lesbian” but she tells him that she loves him and nothing has changed between them. It seems impossible to grasp that a person could be attracted to both men and women. Bisexuality is erased.
Some films insinuate that the protagonist isn’t necessarily bisexual or even a lesbian, it’s just that they’re attracted to this one woman only and no others – they’re an exception! This is the kind of impression you get from Below Her Mouth, but also from other films such as Imagine Me & You and Elena Undone (2010), which isn’t particularly helpful for lesbian representation either. In Imagine Me & You, Rachel tells Hector “You are my best friend. That was enough before, and it will be enough again.” This implies that Rachel was never truly attracted to him in a romantic sense, thus implying that she’s a lesbian. While this could be a case of compulsory heteronormativity, it seems problematic as it’s never discussed or explained. Avoiding discussions about sexuality – as most of these films do – are what contribute to this trope massively and result in misinterpretation and erasure.
Films as new as Netflix’s Alex Strangelove (2018) also feed into the idea that bisexuality is a stepping stone to picking a side. Alex (Daniel Doheny) prepares to lose his virginity to his girlfriend but finds his plans derailed when he’s attracted to another boy. He spends most of the film questioning his sexuality and at one point thinks he’s bisexual. The film does highlight biphobia which brings attention to this problem, so it’s disheartening at the end when Alex realizes he is gay and not bisexual after all. The set up for Alex Strangelove was perfect for a bisexual love story and, while it’s still positive LGBT representation, it’s a shame it didn’t stick with that. It’s even rarer to see bisexual men portrayed on-screen, so it would’ve been really rewarding.
It’s important to acknowledge that bisexuality is a comfortable place for some people to be while they’re trying to accept that they are gay – and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, there still seems to be some widespread discomfort when it comes to sexuality being fluid. For bisexual people, there isn’t any side to pick – they’re not torn between polar opposites, nor are they confused. They aren’t on the fence, they’re on both sides of the fence. Nevertheless, films continue to portray bisexuality as a personal conflict that needs resolving, and it does this by putting bisexual characters in a situation where they’re having affairs. This makes their sexuality the narrative conflict, which is wholly problematic in itself.
The Horrible Husband
The protagonist’s fiancé or husband is usually abusive or passive in the relationship, and thus portrayed as the antagonist. She is then drawn to a lesbian woman who treats her so much better and gives her the attention she deserves. Sometimes it’s as though these films are saying that lesbianism is the cure for a dissatisfying heterosexual relationship. This contributes to bisexual erasure by suggesting that bisexual women can only be happy with women and never with a man because they’re horrible or not good enough. It also perpetuates the idea of picking a side – almost telling bisexuals that they should just be lesbians instead.
This trope is found in films like Elena Undone, where Elena (Necar Zadegan) meets Peyton (Traci Dinwiddie) who is a famous lesbian writer. Elena’s husband Barry (Gary Weeks), however, is a homophobic pastor. Elena Undone is actually loosely based on director Nicole Conn’s real-life romance with Marina Rice Bader, but the film itself isn’t great. It’s also shown in The World Unseen (2007) as Miriam (Lisa Ray) quietly follows the customs of 1950s South Africa, alongside dealing with her abusive husband Omar (Parvin Dabas). Miriam becomes empowered to change her circumstances when she meets and falls in love with free-spirited cafe owner Amina (Sheetal Sheth).
A much better film that deals with this trope is Bound (1996). Lesbian ex-con Corky (Gina Gershon) arrives at an apartment building to start work as a painter and plumber. She soon finds herself being seduced by Violet (Jennifer Tilly) who lives next door with her boyfriend Caesar (Joe Pantoliano). Violet explains that they’ve been together for five years and he’s a money launderer for the mafia. She wants to escape and make a new life for herself, so she and Corky plan to steal $2 million of Mafia money and blame it on Caesar. The horrible husband trope actually works well in this film because the women plan to screw Caesar over and it doesn’t use Violet’s infidelity as the main narrative conflict – it’s a lot more original, which isn’t surprising as the first directorial feature film from the Wachowski Sisters. Bound would’ve been much less effective if Caesar was just a regular guy who Violet hated, but she has a better motive with the drama surrounding his violent mafia connections.
These three tropes are collectively the entire plot of Imagine Me & You, Elena Undone, The World Unseen, I Can’t Think Straight (2008), Kiss Me (2011) and more. It’s a shame that there isn’t always a huge focus on the actual relationship between the two women in these films. It’s more about them hiding their relationship and because they officially get together at the end, we never get to see much of what their life is like as a couple. They all feature very similar themes, meaning that when it comes to telling the stories of bisexual characters, the narrative is rarely diverse. Romantic comedies in general always follow the same beats which is fine, but these tropes for bisexual characters either erase their sexuality and/or display it as a problem.
These tropes can still work well (like with Bound) depending on certain aspects of the narrative. Infidelity works well in Carol (2015) due to the 1950s setting. Carol (Cate Blanchett), who is in the process of divorcing her horrible husband, and Therese (Rooney Mara) have to hide their relationship due to homosexuality not being accepted during this time. This adds an extra layer to the narrative, giving actual depth to why things are happening the way that they are. There’s also Disobedience (2017) where it works well due to the Orthodox Jewish culture. Ronit (Rachel Weisz), who is considered bisexual, returns to the community for her father’s funeral to find her childhood friend Esti (Rachel McAdams) married to a man. Esti describes herself as a lesbian woman in a relationship with a man, which is disheartening but works in the film’s world. Disobedience also plays through the infidelity trope very differently to other films, allowing it to be more effective.
The Erasure
In films with bisexual characters, it’s rare that the word “bisexual” actually comes up. It’s mostly ambiguous, implied or erased completely by the protagonist seemingly picking a side. It’s constantly reinforced by narrative tropes that are set up for dramatic entertainment, with no real intention of representing sexuality with genuine care. Erasure also happens due to words like “gay” being used as an umbrella term when referring back to certain films. Brokeback Mountain (2005) and Call Me By Your Name (2017), for example, are often referred to as gay films on social media due to the gay relationships portrayed, However, the characters are portrayed to be sexually fluid/bisexual due to the nature of their relationships with women. It also happens with films like Blue Is the Warmest Colour (2014) which is always painted as a lesbian love story when Adèle (Adèle Exarchopoulos) is clearly bisexual. It’s not necessarily bad to use gay and lesbian as umbrella terms, but it, unfortunately, does contribute to bisexual erasure. We should be bringing more attention to bisexuality on-screen and pointing it out specifically when we see it.
One of the biggest erasures is the portrayal of bisexual men. They appear much less frequently than bisexual women. The most recent example that comes to mind is Jake Gyllenhaal’s character in Velvet Buzzsaw (2019), but the word bisexual was never used and he was portrayed as being promiscuous, which fits into the negative stereotype (although the film is satire so perhaps it can be excused). Some better, or at least more interesting, depictions of bisexual men are still out there and can be found in films such as Velvet Goldmine (1998), Kaboom (2010), The Comedian (2012), The Lobster (2015) and Moonlight (2016).
If anything, bisexual characters are usually left out of the bury your gays/dead lesbian syndrome trope. It’s very common both in film and television for gay men and lesbian women to be killed off in some dramatic way, such as in Brokeback Mountain, The Fox (1967), Les Biches (1968), Lost and Delirious (2001) and A Single Man (2009). Bisexual women have been killed off quite a bit in television – like Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) in The O.C. – but they’re relatively safe in film and hopefully, it’ll stay that way.
Acknowledging Bisexuality
It is disheartening that bisexual representation on-screen isn’t as good or as frequent as gay and lesbian representation. We’re also at a time where it could be massively improved, but now we face the barrier of “queer” as another umbrella term. It’s wholly unhelpful when not everyone identifies with it and when we want bisexual characters to say the word bisexual on-screen. We want to be acknowledged. Bisexual actress Stephanie Beatriz made sure her bisexual character in Brooklyn Nine-Nine got to say it earlier this year, because that word means something to certain people and the impact is great. Hopefully this will start to happen more in film going forward.
There are definitely films out there where the word bisexual is actually said, like in Appropriate Behaviour, Kiss Me, Velvet Goldmine and Margarita with a Straw (2014). It’s rare that we hear it so when we do it’s pretty exciting. In addition to these, other films that feature positive and/or complex portrayals of bisexual characters in general (and not the previously discussed tropes) are: Cabaret (1972), Chasing Amy (1997), Black Swan (2010), Atomic Blonde (2017) and Tully (2018).
There have been many positive and negative depictions of bisexuality, but the majority of them aren’t great or feed into the biphobia and the erasure of the identity. Filmmakers need to do better when it comes to portraying bisexual characters and their stories. It’s always helpful when bisexual people themselves get a voice, whether as writers, directors or actors. For some reason, although there are exceptions, most straight male and lesbian filmmakers have trouble portraying bisexuality both positively and accurately. They essentially give the message that bisexuality doesn’t exist or is an inner conflict that needs to be resolved. We must do better because one day someone will be watching a film where a character says “bisexual” and their life will suddenly fall into place.

Chapter 11: The Big Fights
🌕 🌖 🌗 🌘 🌑 🌒 🌓 🌔 🌕
The signs were there. But no one bothered to pay attention to them.
🌕 🌖 🌗 🌘 🌑 🌒 🌓 🌔 🌕

Young Izuku had the foundations to be a great hero. A new symbol of peace. He was kind, strong in heart, brave, and a little stupid. Toshinori knew that would be a worthy holder of One For All. When he trained the boy, and heard of his actions during the attack on the USJ, he knew that he had made the right choice for the new symbol of peace.
Inko was a beautiful woman, even if she was too anxious and self conscious to notice. He felt this urge to love and protect her. And over the months with her and Izuku, they formed a genuine love.
Toshinori was a little concerned at first when he met YN and Daniel though. He did not really understand why they were kept so sheltered and babied. YN seemed like a capable young woman. But like with Izuku and Inko, he would come to understand. The more time he spent near them, the more his soul felt protective, loving, Obsessive.

“Ah, good morning young Yn. How are you today?” He would usually meet with young Izuku, finding the siblings as well in the apartment.
“What do you think? You people stole my switchblade. My mother’s switchblade.”
Inko bristled a bit at YN’s tone. “Sweetie… We just thought that you could get hurt. It’s for the best. You know that w-”
“That you only want the best for me. Yeah yeah, I’ve heard the same excuse from you over and over again. And each time it’s still bull.”
Before any of them could respond or reprimand her, YN stomped to her room slamming the door. Mornings would mostly go this way, they weren’t so great. Especially when the night before they had to make decisions regarding her safety. On All Might’s days off, he would spend time with the Midoriya’s, sometimes it would go smoothly and sometimes the mood couldn’t surpass a funeral.
All Might felt guilty over this whole situation. Feeling that he should’ve noticed the signs that YN was going to run away sooner. Perhaps then he could’ve intervened and the whole family could air out why things were the way they were.
The first signs had to be when YN kept interfering with the way Inko felt was right to take care of poor Daniel.

“Come on Daniel, It’s time to go to the learning center.”
“Oh sweetie, I forgot to tell you that we pulled Daniel out of the center classes.”
“What?” When YN’s face turned, All Might could see that a screaming match would begin, well not really a match considering young YN would be doing all the screaming. He was just here to pick up young Midoryia but he couldn’t help but stop in.
“Well it’s just that Daniel learns so much better at a home, and the center is full of so many people that would be mean to him. Besides, he doesn’t really need to be at the center when I can take care of him.”
“Yes he does! How is he gonna learn to cook and clean and manage any type of money if you refuse to let him learn!?!”
“Daniel’s mind can’t handle all the new information. He might start to panic and his quirk might-”
“YOU don’t know a GODDAMN thing about him! About what is best for him! You wanna do what’s best for my brother?! Than STOP treating him like he’s completely incompetent!”
Before she could yell another word All Might stepped in with his trademark ‘I AM HERE’ .
“Now young YN that’s no way to speak to your foster mother. She just believes that someone more personal should be teaching Daniel these things. That's not so bad is it?”
“But-”
“IS IT?”
“Fine.I’ll get my school work done early so that I can teach Daniel in the afternoon.”
With that the argument was resolved. If only that was the last time she lashed out at them. If only All Might had prevented the biggest fight that would break out between Izuku and YN.

“Will you stop pestering him about his quirk?! It obviously makes him uncomfortable!”
YN had walked into the room seeing Izuku asking Daniel all sorts of questions about his quirk and how he used it. It would’ve been fine had he stopped at the first two questions, but he kept going on and on. Wouldn’t stop asking about the destructive qualities, or about how his mind sometimes couldn’t comprehend his own quirk. Izuku didn’t notice how uncomfortable Daniel was getting.
“I was just asking him some questions!”
“You were being a jerk!”
Before Izuku could yell at her again, the table and the mirrors broke. Both turned to see Daniel staring furious and scared, tears streaming down his cheeks.
“Don’t scream at my sister!” He spoke angrily. He was so brave, so ready to defend his baby sister.
Daniel could’ve brought the whole room down, had All Might in his ultimate form not stepped and stopped him. All Might should’ve known not to grab him and held him down. He should’ve known that the constriction made Daniel panic. Made him destroy more things to make it stop. The screaming continued, until YN grabbed her brother and calmed him. They barricaded themselves in her room that night. And in the morning, the three tried to act like it didn’t happen. All Might took the kids out for the day. Trying to mend the relationship and forget what had happened.
The signs were there that day. The signs that they were going to run. That they were going to leave. If only All Might had seen the signs. If only Toshinori hadn’t gotten attached to them.

Cheesy Romance || Denki Kaminari x Reader
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Pairing: Denki Kaminari x Reader
Requested by Anonymous: May I request one where the reader is just unapologetically whipped for Denki and makes it their life task to just. Romance him in the cheesiest way. Make him blush. Make that boy feel loved. He deserves it. Either way, thanks for sharing your writing, I'm excited for every new post!
Summary: You’re whipped for Denki Kaminari and flirt with him all the time, and eventually one day he confesses his feelings to you
Word Count: 1.7k
Notes: a/m=action movie, y/f/c=your favorite candy, and d/f/c=denki’s favorite candy (idk what his favorite candy is, so you can make it whatever you think it would be)
A/n: You didn’t specify what kind you wanted, but I assumed you wanted headcanons, but I totally ignored that assumption and decided to turn it into a little drabble about them getting together, but then I got carried away and this ended up being longer than I intended it to be, so I hope that is okay. I kept the same idea about the reader being whipped for him, and flirty, I just turned it into a oneshot instead of headcanons. I also added in a scene of them going to the movies together and I don’t know how movie theaters work in Japan, but I’m sure it’s similar to how American movie theaters work, so I just went with that. Anyways, thank for requesting! I hope this is okay! - Danielle <3

“Morning Kaminari!” You happily said, walking into the kitchen. Kaminari was sitting at the counter, eating a bowl of cereal.
“Morning L/n,” he replied.
“How did you sleep last night?” You asked, pouring yourself a cup of tea/coffee, but before he could answer, you spoke again, “Do you want some?”
“No thanks,” he replied, “And I slept good.”
“That’s good!” You replied, “Do you have any plans for today, since we have the day off?”
“Yeah, Kirishima wanted to go see some new action movie,” Kaminari explained.
“Ooo, do you think I could come along?” You asked.
“I don’t see why not, check with Kirishima first though,” Kaminari said, giving you a small smile.
“Okay! I’ll go do that!” You said, walking away with your cup of tea/coffee in your hand.
Ever since you got to know Kaminari, you were always so flirty and sweet with him. He honestly wasn’t used to it. Usually, he was the one flirting with girls, who didn’t flirt back or show any interest in him. But you had approached him and started being nice to him, and your flirting actually worked on him.
He could still remember the first time that you had made him blush, which was a rare occurrence for him.
For whatever reason, everybody in class 1-A had agreed to meet up and watch the sunset together. Everybody was sitting on blankets, with some snacks, all talking together. You were walking around, trying to find somewhere to sit. Ochaco and Izuku invited you to go sit with them, but you rejected their offer and instead, approached the blanket that Denki, Bakugou, Kirishima and Sero were sitting on.
“Hey guys! Can I sit with you?” You asked, smiling at them.
“Fuck no-” Bakugou started but Kirishima cut him off.
“Sure! Go right ahead L/n! We have plenty of snacks!” Kirishima said, giving you a big smile.
“Thanks,” you said, sitting down in between Sero and Denki. You took the drawstring bag from your back and opened it, “I brought some snacks.” You took the bag of chips from the bag, along with a few different types of candy, and a few kinds of snack cakes.
“Wow, L/n! This is great, thank you,” Sero said, opening the bag of chips.
“Yeah,” Kaminari added on, “Thanks L/n.”
“Oh, Kaminari, I got you something,” you said, pulling one last thing from the bag, “I heard you telling Kirishima that they were your favorite.” You handed him a bag of his favorite candy, and his face lit up.
“Thanks! You’re so nice,” Kaminari said, opening the bag of candy, and eating a few, “Want some?”
“No thanks, I’m not really a big fan of those,” you replied, instead opening one of the snack cakes and eating it. After that, you all talked for a while. You and Kaminari were laughing at something the other had said, and eventually you both stopped, with huge smiles on your faces. As you looked at him, you noticed a little plant growing out of the ground behind him. You reached forward and past him, picking the little daisy out of the ground.
You returned to your previous position, spinning the daisy in between your fingers. After a moment, you made eye contact with Denki and gave him a small smile, before reaching forward and tucking the daisy into his blonde locks of hair.
“Can I take a photo of you? You look really cute with that daisy in your hair,” you said, pulling your phone out of your pocket. Denki nodded, not being able to say anything, as you came up beside him and held the phone out in front of the two of you, making sure the two of you were in frame, before speaking again, “Smile!”
And now, you had a photo on your phone of you and Denki, in which Denki had a daisy in his hair and a light pink blush on his cheeks.
Sometimes, Denki couldn’t believe that you actually liked him. At certain times, he figured it was some cruel joke that his friends were playing on him, and that you didn’t actually like him, but then again, you flirted with him way too often to not actually like him.
Denki found himself being oddly nervous around you, for some reason. He had met and flirted with plenty of girls, but there was something about you that made him nervous to mess up in front of you. It was probably the fact that you had been the only girl to show interest in him and actually try to flirt with him.
He would be lying to himself if he said that your compliments didn’t make his day, because they one hundred percent did. He could be having the most shitty day, no matter whether he had slept bad, or Bakugou had said something mean to him, or he had failed a test, one flirty compliment from you and his whole day was better.
Kaminari was snapped out of his thoughts by your voice.
“I’m back! I talked to Kiri and he said I could come, this is going to be so exciting,” you said.
“Yeah,” Denki replied, smiling at you, “I’m glad you’re coming.” “Me too," you replied, filling your cup back up, “I should go get ready. See you later!” “See you,” Denki replied, watching as you walked away and back to your room to get ready.

“Six tickets for a/m, please,” Mina said, giving the money that you had all handed her to the worker. Everybody paid for their own ticket, besides Kaminari, you had insisted on paying for his and it was clear that you weren’t giving up, so eventually, after Bakugou screamed at him to just take it, he did.
“Here,” the worker said, handing her the slips of paper. Then you all took turns getting your own popcorn and drinks.
“Wanna share a popcorn with me?” You asked, looking at Denki, giving him a little wink, causing him to blush a bit.
“I guess, but I’m paying this time,” Denki said, going to pull the money out of his pocket.
“Nope,” you replied, taking the money from your own pocket.
“Why not!?” Denki exclaimed.
“Cause I don’t want you wasting your money,” you explained, as Bakugou finished getting whatever he wanted. Kirishima went next.
“But you’re wasting your own money on me,” Denki pointed out.
“It’s not a waste if I’m spending it on you, Kaminari,” you said, giving him a small smile.
“Denki,” he said.
“Huh?” You asked, giving him a confused look.
“You can call me Denki,” he explained, causing you to smile.
“Okay, Denki,” you said, “You can call me Y/n if you want.”
“Can you two stop fucking flirting and tell the lady what you want!?” Bakugou yelled, making you realize that Kirishima had finished.
“Sorry,” you said, “I’ll take a large popcorn, with two drinks, y/f/c, and d/f/c.”
“Okay, that’ll be $18.23,” the worker said, and you handed her your money, before she got your popcorn, and candy, and handed you to empty cups to get your own drinks. You handed Denki his candy and empty cup, before going over to fill up your own drink.
Denki followed you over, and got his drink, before you got yours. Then, you two headed back over to the rest of the group and went inside the theater. Bakugou made sure you guys were early so you got good seats. You ended up sitting in between Mina and Denki, with Denki having an empty seat beside him.
“This is exciting,” you said, eating some popcorn, “I haven’t been to the movies in a while.”
“Yeah,” Denki responded, eating some of the candy you had gotten him. He was about to speak again, when you pulled out your phone, and unlocked it. His eyes went wide when he saw what your background photo was and he almost spit out his candy. There was a light blush on his cheeks as he spoke again, “Is that the photo you took of me with the daisy in my hair?”
“Oh, yeah. Would you like me to send it to you? You could make it your profile photo on something, you look cute in it,” you said, smiling at him.
“No, I mean, sure, I guess. But why’d you make it your background?”
“Why wouldn’t I? I really like you and it’s no big secret that I do, but if it makes you uncomfortable then I can change it. I just think you’re really cute, and a really great person, and I don’t think you get told that enough,” you explained, shrugging. Denki couldn’t believe what he was hearing, sure, he knew you liked him, but he didn’t think it was that much.
He was about to speak, but he was cut off, by the sound of a video ending. He looked over to see Mina holding up her phone and smiling.
“You two are so cute!” She said, bringing her phone back down to look at the video she got. You rolled your eyes, and jokingly hit her arm.
“Do you know the definition of privacy?” You asked, fake glaring at her.
“Nope,” she replied, smiling at you, before looking back to her phone.
“Hey, Y/n?” Denki asked.
“Oh, yeah, did you want me to change my background?” You asked, looking back to him.
“Oh, no, you don’t have to. I just,” Denki said, taking a deep breath, “I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me sometime?” Denki half expected you to reveal that you were joking the whole time and that you didn’t really like him at all. He had been rejected so many times, and he was really worried that you would reject him as well.
“Wait, ser iously?” You asked, your face lighting up, “You really want to go on a date with me!?”
“Yeah,” Denki replied, giving you a small smile.
“Yes!” You exclaimed, “I’d love to!”
“Are you two going to stop being fucking cheesy all the time, now?” Bakugou asked, interrupting, “It makes me sick to my stomach.”
“Sorry, Bakugou, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to get a million times cheesier,” you replied.
“Oh for fuck’s sake,” Bakugou said, sighing.
“Aw, it’s okay Bakubro, at least we don’t have to listen to Kaminari talking about liking her now,” Kirishima sat, patting Bakugou’s back as he slammed his head into the seat in front of him.
And that was the beginning of your wonderful and cheesy relationship with Denki Kaminari.

Ocean's 11 but it's Now You See Me
I just randomly remembered today that this has been sitting in my google drive for a couple months and I decided it needs to be shared with the world.  It’s gonna be a long one, so buckle up.
Danny Ocean is of course the experienced, charismatic illusionist. He's well-known in the magic circuit and has lots of friends despite preferring to work alone. Basically a jack-of-all-trades, he's proficient in almost every area of magic, although as previously stated he's especially good at illusions and fooling the audience into seeing something that isn't true. Essentially J. Daniel Atlas but more likeable.
Rusty started as Danny's partner when they were young before branching out and doing his own shows. He's kind of like the Henley Reeves to Danny's Atlas, except they're still on good terms. I mean, come on, look at the way the man dresses. You can't tell me he wouldn't adore the kind of flashy shows that Henley puts on. He works mainly in Vegas, which Danny avoids, but they meet up when they can and sort of have a long distance relationship (neither of them is seriously seeing anyone else, at least).
Linus and Jack Wilder are cut from the same cloth. Both are fairly new on the scene, both look up to a mentor in their chosen profession who doesn't seem to appreciate them the same way (despite the fact that they are very clearly competent), both are eager to prove themselves. The list goes on. I like to think that, very similar to Jack, Linus would have a few… extra skills padding out his magician's repertoire. When Linus finally gets to perform with Danny, he's ecstatic.
Saul is the wise old magician of the circuit. After his many years in the game, he found the easiest thing to pull off in his later years was mentalism. He's a bit like Merritt McKinney in that way, but not in temperament. Danny, who learned under Saul, was never a good mentalist, so he trash-talks that branch of magic privately to Rusty. He respects Saul too much to do that in front of him though. Saul mostly makes the rounds in retirement homes and vacation spots, performing and then eating free food before the staff realize he doesn't belong there.
Basher and Livingston make crazy contraptions that shouldn't work but somehow do, and then show them off to people who can never figure out how they operate. Where Basher is the spokesperson, Livingston refuses to go on stage, so he mostly provides behind the scenes tech support. They're famous for their many Rube Goldberg machines, which are both wildly popular and wildly complicated.
Turk and Virgil are your typical adrenaline junkie disaster duo that pull off increasingly insane stunts that should get them both killed but end up with them walking away unscathed every time. The one time Turk sprained his ankle he smiled through the pain and the audience never knew. A crowd favorite is one or both of them being fired from a cannon, which they've done so many times at this point that it's actually one of their safest tricks.
Yen is like a freelance assistant-for-hire when someone needs a person to flip a switch or get sawed in half. He's especially sought after for his ability to squeeze into tight spaces, and the fact that he's cheaper than the models on the Las Vegas strip. He mostly works with Basher and Rusty and has his own acrobatics/contortionism show on the side, although he's not as popular as some of the others, which is why most of his income is from being an assistant. His fan base is growing, though.
Frank and Reuben aren't magicians themselves, but work closely with most of them. Reuben, long a patron of the arts, funds most of their shows, especially at the beginning of their careers and at smaller venues that can't necessarily pay the magicians themselves. Frank acts as a manager for a lot of them (although he probably doesn't get paid enough for that shit), booking their shows and keeping track of finances. He and Reuben are frequently in contact. He also tries to coordinate Danny and Rusty's schedules as much as possible ;).
Terry Benedict got roped into funding a huge three-day magic experience featuring "Ocean's 11" during which they robbed him blind. He's held a grudge against them since then, but they did a good job of lying low and/or staying one step ahead of him in the immediate aftermath, so he was never able to catch them. Sort of an Arthur Tressler character, although Ocean's crew didn't really have a personal vendetta and he wasn't responsible for cheating other people out of their money, so they didn't give it to the audience.
Tess is the FBI agent assigned to the magicians’ case directly following the Benedict incident. Choose your own origin story for her, anything works as long as it somehow leads to a minor obsession with tracking down Daniel Ocean. Isabel is the Interpol agent who arrives to help her because Benedict had some holdings in Europe or something. They fall in love while pursuing the magicians. Basically Dylan Rhodes and Alma Dray.
Francois Tolour is a washed-up magician turned skeptic who spends his time debunking other magicians' acts. He takes a special interest in Danny, and by extent the other ten, because he's absolutely convinced Danny's better than he was and he hates that. Both Benedict and Tess seek him out for help finding Danny, but he either can't help them because his own search has failed, or he's still bound by some remnant of the magician's code and won't assist them.

"So, I was thinking": a modern college!AU:
Johnny is bored. He has already finished all of his crosswords; all of his friends are busy minding their own business and won't pick up their phones.
Classes won't begin until next Monday. Johnny arrived at his dorm last night and he doesn't know when his roommate will be there. All he knows about this person is his name: LaRusso, Daniel.
Wondering about this mysterious boy could set Johnny free from his boredom. Is he a nerd? Or a drama kid? Johnny hopes he won't sing all the time. Of course he likes music (who doesn't?), but musicals... he isn't ready for them yet.
It would be nice to have some common likings with him. Maybe horror movies or breakfast for dinner (well, Johnny is so broke that he eats it for all meals, basically).
Remembering the old times, which weren't good, not at all, tugs at Johnny's heartstrings. He doesn't miss arguing with his parents all the time, but he certainly liked not having to iron his clothes himself. And he misses messing around with Tommy, Jimmy, Bobby and Dutch after school.
Oh, and Karate! Johnny misses it so much that it hurts. He couldn't find a Karate club to join (is this a thing? In Johnny's opinion, it should be. There are clubs for everything in this campus. If he can't find one, he'll form one). Maybe he can practice with Daniel and he could be the second member of the Karate club.
"Hello! I'm Daniel!"
Johnny stares at the boy. He's short, dark-haired and has round brown eyes.
"Johnny", the blond boy gets up, approaches Daniel and shakes his hand. "Can I help you unpacking?"
"Please", Daniel sighs and rubs his neck. "My mother just dropped me off and turned the car around. I barely had time to say goodbye. Can you believe it? I think she wants to rent my room while I'm gone, but I don't think I'll be going home anytime soon. How about you?"
Obviously, the first thing Johnny learns about Daniel is: he's a chatterbox. Second thing: he's from Jersey. He lives with his mother and would love to learn martial arts, but her mother wouldn’t let him because she’s afraid he will get hurt.
"I know Karate", Johnny confesses with a little smile.
***
Sometimes, Johnny regrets having told Daniel about his passion for Karate, because the kid didn't stop begging Johnny for some classes until he finally gave up.
Their dorm is too small and they would destroy it sparring there, so Johnny decides to have the class outside, behind the gym. Daniel said he would meet Johnny there after dinner (and yes, Daniel also has breakfast for all meals, since he is just as broke as Johnny).
December is on the way, so Johnny is wearing as much sweaters as he can (including his Cobra Kai jacket). He leans his back against the red brick wall and puts a cigarette between his lips.
Daniel shows up some minutes later, carrying a heavy messenger bag on his shoulder and wrapped in hoodies and coats (he has lots of cool hoodies; Johnny loves to borrow them and he is using the baseball one right now).
"Ugh", Daniel puts the bag down, massaging his shoulder.
"Are you ok?", Johnny asks with a worried look on his face.
"Perfect. Let's do this."
They get on fighting positions and spar for a while. When they get tired, they walk back to their room, peacefully talking about the day.
"Let me carry this for you", Johnny picks the messenger bag, even though Daniel has already bent to pull it.
He places it over his shoulder and Daniel walks beside him, ranting about his lame Calculus professor.
"I couldn't convince Mrs. Warter to postpone the paper's due date", Johnny complains when Daniel asks about his day. "I'll be lucky if I get a C on it."
"Do you want me to help you?"
Yes, please, he almost answers. Johnny enjoys having Daniel around. They don't have many common likings besides Karate and breakfast food, but he really enjoys staying up late with him, sharing their only desk (Johnny begun to work as a cashier in a store near the campus and Daniel writes other people's assignments for money and they are saving money to improve the place) and laptops on study sessions. Or to spend rare and lazy Sundays in their room, doing crosswords (Daniel bought some magazines and gave to Johnny). Or to share breakfast meals in the middle of the night because they can't sleep.
"Are you free tonight?", he asks, his voice sounds desperate, just as his eyes.
"Is this a study session or a date?", Daniel replies jokingly and raises an eyebrow. "Sure. I can help you."
Johnny opens his laptop and shows Daniel what he's working on.
"I mean, it's not bad, but could use some adjustments here and there. Let's get to work."
Daniel presses the keyboard keys hard with strong movements that emulate a pianist, but with perfectly tied hair. His brain is formulating what should be in the text and getting rid of what shouldn't be read by Johnny's professor.
"I think we're done here", Daniel declares.
"Thanks. I'm gonna buy you a coffee tomorrow, with extra cream."
"Much appreciated", the boy winks and Johnny's heart skips a beat. "So, I was thinking..."
"What a miracle", Johnny teases, smiling to distract Daniel from his blushing ears.
"Anyway, are you going home for Christmas?"
"I don't think so. You?"
"Also no. I don't have enough money for a ticket to Parsipanny."
Daniel looks at Johnny for a moment. His blue eyes are usually shiny, but now... he's more than just sad. Johnny looks depressed and scared.
"Are you alright?", Daniel reaches for Johnny's hand. "You can talk to me. I'm here for you."
Johnny doesn't talk. Instead, he goes for a hug. A big and warm hug. He clings onto Daniel as if he was the only thing keeping him from being blown away.
He doesn't want to cry. However, he can't fight the tears anymore. Daniel holds Johnny, trying to keep him together only with his bare hands. He doesn't try to whisper comfort words in Johnny's ear, he just stays there, providing his roommate all the support he can.
That night, Johnny falls asleep in Daniel's arms. He has never felt this safe before.
The next morning, Johnny rushes to the closest cafe shop to get the nicest cup they have. He drops by the dorm to put the coffee on the desk with a note: To the best roommate ever. Thank you for everything. Love, J.
He sends the paper to Mrs. Warter as soon as he takes a seat in the computer lab for his first class, hoping Daniel's help can save his poor ass from failing Warter's class.
A few hours later, Johnny is waiting for the last class to begin so he can get to work. Not that he likes standing up by a counter telling old people where they can find raisins, plum juice and other things old people buy. But at least, he gets to listen to his music and does little pieces of homework between a client and another.
There is something Johnny can't do at the store: see Daniel. Too bad they don't take many classes together, because every time Johnny sees Daniel entering the classroom, the world changes. It becomes brighter and more beautiful. He knows it's cliché, but Johnny is tired of pretending to be the perfect son, athlete... he just wants to be Johnny.
And Johnny is brave.
"So, I was thinking...", Johnny says when Daniel sits by his side.
"That's unusual", Daniel lets out that amusement air through his nose. "What is it?"
"Do you wanna go out? With... with me?"
That is really unusual. Johnny never was this reticent before. Not even when he noticed he had a crush on Ali Mills.
“Yeah, sure. When?”
“How about Friday? My shift ends at 5:30.”
“Sounds great.”
***
Johnny spends Christmas in his dorm, with Daniel. They curl up on Johnny’s bed, wrapped in Daniel’s hoodies, solving crosswords puzzles and drinking tea while listening to Johnny’s music. Neither of them wants to talk about their families.
Growing up as an only child, Johnny never had to share his things. He wouldn’t even allow Ali to read his poetry (he wrote some about her, tho), or let his friends go through his Spotify playlist. Not because he's embarrassed to like these songs, but because the lyrics describe him so perfectly that he's not comfortable with someone listening to it in front of him.
When he met Daniel and found out they could be good friends (maybe more than that? Johnny certainly hopes so), he felt an urge to take the boy on a journey through his world. First, they shared Karate, then crossword puzzles and went on and on, discovering little things about one another.
“Huh… I couldn’t get you anything for Christmas, so I wrote you a poem. Wanna hear it?”
Daniel doesn’t say anything, just gets closer to him as Johnny clears his throat and searches his notebook for his newest composition. Once he finds it, he puts the paper in front of his eyes (he was brave enough to ask the boy out, but not to have that lovely brown eyes gazing at him while he reads his feelings out.)
“I loved it, Johnny. Now get ready for your present.”
Johnny doesn’t close his eyes when his lips are pressed by Daniel’s mouth. It feels so good that they do it again and again until they fall asleep, holding each other.
***
Graduation is almost here. Most students have moved from the dorms or plan to do it soon. Daniel and Johnny, on the other hand, haven’t mentioned the matter yet. As you can imagine, they don’t want to live with their families again. The only thing Johnny wants is to stay with Daniel and he wonders if Daniel wants the same thing.
“Hey, Danny”, it was supposed to be a nice and quiet study session before the finals, but Johnny can’t hold this down any longer. “I was thinking… do you wanna live with me?”
“Are you kidding me? You’re never getting rid of me, blondie.”

All she knows is that somewhere out there, beyond the horizon, she has a sister named Kay. Determined to find her, Cee devotes her days to building a boat from junk parts scavenged inland, doing everything in her power to survive until the day she gets off the island and reunites with her sister.

With natural disasters on the rise due to climate change, eco-cities provide clean air, water, and shelter. Their residents, in exchange, must spend at least a third of their time in stasis pods, conducting business virtually whenever possible to reduce their environmental footprint. While Kasey, an introvert and loner, doesn’t mind the lifestyle, her sister Celia hated it. Popular and lovable, Celia much preferred the outside world. But no one could have predicted that Celia would take a boat out to sea, never to return.
Now it’s been three months since Celia’s disappearance, and Kasey has given up hope. Logic says that her sister must be dead. But as the public decries her stance, she starts to second guess herself and decides to retrace Celia’s last steps. Where they’ll lead her, she does not know. Her sister was full of secrets. They Better Call Me Sugar: My Journey from the Hood to the Hardwood by Sugar Rodgers Black Sheep
Growing up in dire poverty in Suffolk, Virginia, Sugar (born Ta’Shauna) Rodgers never imagined that she would become an all-star player in the WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association). Both of her siblings were in and out of prison throughout much of her childhood and shootings in her neighborhood were commonplace. For Sugar this was just a fact of life.
While academics wasn’t a high priority for Sugar and many of her friends, athletics always played a prominent role. She mastered her three-point shot on a net her brother put up just outside their home, eventually becoming so good that she could hustle local drug dealers out of money in one-on-one contests.
With the love and support of her family and friends, Sugar’s performance on her high school basketball team led to her recruitment by the Georgetown Hoyas, and her eventual draft into the WNBA in 2013 by the Minnesota Lynx (who won the WNBA Finals in Sugar’s first year). The first of her family to attend college, Sugar speaks of her struggles both academically and as an athlete with raw honesty.
Sugar’s road to a successful career as a professional basketball player is fraught with sadness and death–including her mother’s death when she’s fourteen, which leaves Sugar essentially homeless. Throughout it all, Sugar clings to basketball as a way to keep herself focused and sane.
And now Sugar shares her story as a message of hope and inspiration for young girls and boys everywhere, but especially those growing up in economically challenging conditions. Never sugarcoating her life experiences, she delivers a powerful message of discipline, perseverance, and always believing in oneself. — Cover image and summary via Goodreads

Luck of the Titanic by Stacey Lee G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers
Southampton, 1912: Seventeen-year-old British-Chinese Valora Luck has quit her job and smuggled herself aboard the Titanic with two goals in mind: to reunite with her twin brother Jamie--her only family now that both their parents are dead--and to convince a part-owner of the Ringling Brothers Circus to take the twins on as acrobats. Quick-thinking Val talks her way into opulent firstclass accommodations and finds Jamie with a group of fellow Chinese laborers in third class. But in the rigidly stratified world of the luxury liner, Val's ruse can only last so long, and after two long years apart, it's unclear if Jamie even wants the life Val proposes. Then, one moonless night in the North Atlantic, the unthinkable happens--the supposedly unsinkable ship is dealt a fatal blow--and Val and her companions suddenly find themselves in a race to survive.
Stacey Lee, master of historical fiction, brings a fresh perspective to an infamous tragedy, loosely inspired by the recently uncovered account of six Titanic survivors of Chinese descent.
